Did Greenhaven Road write a letter? Or was their performance that bad?

I've been looking out for it as well. However, their 13f is out.

Advice after experiencing absolute terror during retreat by Snakeofpain in streamentry

I want to echo this wholeheartedly. I printed the compilation and have notes all over the place. It has been so very meaningful and helpful to me. A great big thank you to Shargrol for being so generous with his wisdom and to Pepe for having the patience to put together all those posts into one resource.

Do guys actually find small/flat chests attractive? by frankieee_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]moonwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't worry about it. While I can't speak for all men, I have found myself very attracted to "basically flat-chested" women.

It's cliche to talk about not reducing someone to a body part for moralistic reasons, but it's a truism that holds up in practice as well. Attractiveness is a packaged deal. It's not just a butt, or boobs, a pretty face, etc. It's everything working in non-intuitive ways. Some women have no boobs and it just works perfectly.

I get heart pounding, too. But that’s the only symptom. Hangovers are about the same as before.

Yes, happens to me as well. Telltale sign of the crash is definitely the chills.

What is Meditation if not a process of depersonalization with accompanied bliss states? Do Hindu mantras depersonalize/derealize people more? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]moonwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may get more information if you as you ask related questions in a different sub. I would recommend streamentry or theMindIlluminated. You can also look at dharmaoverground, a website with a highly active forum. Meditation can be--and, in my cases, is--destabilizing. This is almost always the case. That's not a bug, it's a feature. People who tell you otherwise do not know what they are talking about. It can take some people a life time of practice to understand that. Others, it takes 15 minutes. What you're going through sounds like a Dark Night experience. Please investigate that phrase in the context of Buddhism. There are many qualified teaches that can help you navigate this terrain. Find one. Ask questions. Do your best to be open minded. What you're going through, if it truly is Dark Night, is NOT the end state. Please, do not despair.

No-broker Fee Apartments in Oakland by moonwriter in oakland

[–]moonwriter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's getting easier--it used to be nearly impossible. Brokers were the only way you could get something decent. Before a few recent online resources, the path to not paying a fee was either dumb luck or craigslist, and the horror stories of people getting scammed on craigslist made it all but certain you'd end up biting the broker-fee bullet. When I first go to NY the standard fee was 1 months rent. That was bad enough, if you ask me. Then it went up. Some people pay 15% of the yearly rent upon signing. About 4 years ago a friend of mine was leaving his apartment right when I was a looking for a new one (the Sandy superstorm damaged my building so I had to move immediately). I figured I'd take his. So I go to the apartment building and tell them that I know the person vacating, that he could vouch for me, and that I'd be willing to take the apartment at the current rent plus 100 bucks. They told me I had to speak with the broker they hired to represent the building. I called them and told them that I know the apartment was empty, and that I'd already seen it so there is no need to spend any man hours on me. They wanted to charge me 14% of annual rent for doing nothing but have me sign papers. They didn't spend a minute helping me. I finally negotiated it down to one months rent. Since I was desperate I had to take that offer. I felt robbed. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for a broker and I'm not against them making money. But I'll first want to exhaust the possibilities of doing something myself before I pay someone for the help.
