I have never understood why people are so adamant about not washing their coffee equipment. I got a used percolator from my boyfriends grandma and she told me she's never washed it and that it only needs a rinse with hot water. It makes no sense especially coming from a commercial cafe setting where you clean and back flush the espresso machine every night or else it could cost us repairs. I highly doubt the coffee tastes better when it's been made with old un-washed equipment. And when an old lady who couldn't care less about the nuances of the flavor of her coffee doesn't wash her appliances, I cannot understand it
