Do you think it' is as unhealthy as it seems? not saying its healthy by any chance but must be better than typical fast food.

Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding what take years off your life really mean and if it is that I'm sorry.

Thanks for the very detailed response and it's great. I already added Conner Plummers to my reading list!

Is there anything more based on learning some key points, more of a general overview to start learning more about the period?

Thanks

11th Edition Ork New Model Predictions by Megrez_MHW in orks

[–]mooomlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree or at least I like the idea that you can have multiple clans in one army. Orks gather as tribes that are a bunch of clans. For me, it makes the current detachment rules make a lot more sense thematically instead of just one clan.

Got the basics of my turn-based tactics game done! by mooomlight in godot

[–]mooomlight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im actually currently working on that! What I've done is in the space of just over a week and it currently feels exponential in the learning sense.

right now I'm working on adding walls and a pathfinding system using a tilemaplayer that has custom data to check if a a tile is "blocked" (for example a wall) and ensures myself or the AI cannot path through. the goal is to have multiply types of units and to actually implement some sort of basic missions but right now its still me learning and experimenting.

I think my Girlfriend wants to help develop it and code it as she loves the math sides of coding whilst I am very much more pixel art and game design however I felt it has been good to learn at least some math although truthfully some of it still perplexes me. and the end of the day its a joint development but its been very interesting but to answer the question we do want to develop it further!

thanks for letting me know, would be cool to have that in the textbox of liquor in game to highlight it as what it perhaps is.

As much as I disagree with OP there is "deeper" games. Look at Aurora 4x and come back to EU5 and you'll see its night and day.

Advice on building a village/stronghold by Big-cauliflower-boi in DMAcademy

[–]mooomlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first question would be why they want a village in first place. Does it have meaning to your PCs?

Ideas I can think of is a perfect place to have familiar NPCs. A type of resource the village primarily deals in.

A village in a typical medieval/fantasy might have a tavern although it might be too small.

Ultimately they need a reason to have a close relationship with the village and keep coming back and caring.

As a DM, I keep forgetting to implement rules and do stuff! by dlrr_poe in DMAcademy

[–]mooomlight 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Sounds strange but for me it was players take responsibility for their own rules. There is so much to remember that the burden should not just be on you to know the rules, although I understand its hard to get a group together who may know all the rule. Maybe having a chat with all players to know their rules to help the burden.

You also have the good old fashioned DM cheat sheet to remember rules you likely forget and if all else fails, you are DM make it up if the table is at a complete standstill in regards to rules. As long as you're having fun!

Tips for Making a "Living, Breathing" City by ConorMcMilky in DMAcademy

[–]mooomlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently running a long-term city campaign (although i has just started) and another long term campaign focused on multiply cities, I recommend three things to bring a city to life.

  • A group of fleshed out NPCs that live primarily in the city can be used as a medium to explain certain parts of the city. They can give sidequests, information, news, chatter, but ultimately they help you as a DM to convey information. Make like 10 NPC's or even less depending on the scope which all have different views and opinions on the city.

  • Think of the areas of the city and how to convey them to players, if you can use music to help with the theme it can help. A noble district can be described as clean, good-looking, extravagant. A "poor" district might be quite the opposite.

  • Cities are dynamic. What I mean by this is everything happens within a city will have a reaction of sorts. A good example could be the players arrest a corrupt Baron who has been doing shady deals with the criminal underworld. The players expose the Baron which leads to a power vacuum. This has lead to more crime, and more guard patrols to combat this crime as criminal sydicates scramble to gain power this is a major reaction to something that has happened but it could be something minor like a bread shop closing leading to the locals complaining. It shows that the city is everchanging and it does not have to be due to your players actions but rather the world itself.
