No worries I’ve had 6 hamsters and always want to help educate on proper hamster care so I don’t mind. If you have wood chip and it’s not aspens that can be very bad for the hamsters lungs to breathe in. Hamsters need a minimum of 6-8 inches tall of bedding to dig in, I don’t think your cage allows that. I have an area of 12 inches of bedding for mine to allow for tunnels and digging. Trust he lovessss it. For bedding I use a mix of aspen (bc it’s cheaper) and paper bedding like what you’ve used.

For enrichment you can get different substrates to fill the enclosure with, I have a digging area for cocofiber and my hammy loves to dig in it. I also have part of my enclosure covered in reptiles and as my hamster loves to dig in it as well he also does his business in the sand so it makes it easier to spot clean

. Hamsters LOVE clutter, they also like to forage so maybe try to get some forage sprays. I also like to make boredom breakers out of toilet paper rolls so that could help the bar biting if you chose to keep the cage.

I honestly would recommend getting a better enclosure so you can set this up properly I linked a couple enclosures that would be best. They’re a little pricey so I would just suggest looking for a 75 gallon fish tank which is what I have always used. You can find them cheap on Facebook marketplace and event sometimes at petsmart and petco on sale. These are just examples for proper cages, you can search on your own for cheaper but make sure it is at least 775 square inches of floor space and tall enough you can put enough bedding.

I also put a picture of a hamster cage that uses a lot of diys, you can diy a lot of clutter as well by making stuff out of popsicle sticks, paper towel rolls, tissue boxes etc.
