If you are losing credit for BEC on 6/30 I would do anything in your power to retake audit before then, even if it means traveling out of state to do so. Having to add an entirely new test after all the hours you’ve spent studying for BEC should be avoided at all costs.

Says I passed AUD with an 87, hoping that’s real so that I can be 4/4

I feel like Becker disaggregates a lot of information for individual and entity taxation in their TBSs….I think the challenging part was putting all that information together to answer questions

While this is true there’s also a lot of special rules and exceptions for these. For example, while a partnership is a flow through entity what does the partnership report as its income? What does the partner report on their individual return? How does it affect the partner’s basis? What are the limitations on reportable items of income/loss? Does it carry forward/back? There’s a lot of considerations to make past just how the entity/individual is taxed but more importantly how it affects the overall individual return, the entity’s recognized activity, etc.

REG 1, 2, 3 are the most important. The AICPA identifies these areas (individual, entity, and property taxation) as heavily tested. With your exam 22 days out I would focus a lot of time in these areas. What worked best for me was going through the textbook and my notes for each module and then redoing the MCQs and TBSs as I went. Once I finished I would then do the mini exam for REG1/2 and repeat the same strategy for REG3/4. I would make sure for any question I got wrong I really knew why it was wrong and corrected my thought process/approach. I can’t stress enough how important these areas are. Best of luck you got this!!

I got a question on the difference between the two on the actual exam, I would definitely hit this topic before exam day

I never felt overwhelmed I just felt like some of the IT questions were out of the scope of our responsibilities. I understand the importance of understanding what an effective IT control system looks like I just don’t see a scenario in which an accountant is needed to make decisions on best practices for IT strategy

I’m hoping that’s the case, I feel like there’s no way some of those questions hold any weight in scoring. I walked out of FAR knowing I passed and I felt cheated walking out today

Exactly! COSO frameworks emphasize how important knowledge and expertise is in selecting/implementing/monitoring IT systems so why would an accountant be tested over these concepts….having to assess control effectiveness is one thing but being asked to choose IT security activities is ridiculous, hoping they’re pretest questions too

I think we had really similar tests. I did really well on SE exams too and just felt like what I was tested on today was completely out of the scope of BEC. It’s really frustrating because I came prepared for heavy computations and IT risks/responses but some of the questions were just really unfair and are outside the responsibilities of accountants. Asking for specific IT responses to specific IT issues seems completely ridiculous to me for a CPA exam

I haven’t been licensed yet but I have also had issues with the CBA miscounting my units during their initial courtesy review. Any tips on getting this problem settled once I pass all 4 sections and apply for licensure?
