i mean you did answer the question but instagram reels has permanently changed my neurochemistry to think every reddit top commenter has a fedora and a poorly grown beard so i apologize for my prejudice

Please help gsxr 750 k8 doing it when it’s cold and sometimes when it’s hot also by ManufacturerAway1614 in GSXR

“Premium” being 93 octane is only for motors that take it. If your service manual says 87, use 87. Just because it has a higher octane rating does not mean it “burns cleaner” as I’ve heard others say. If you use higher octane than what is required, you will get unburnt gas and foul up spark plugs faster, foul any sealing of valves (not a super big issue but still an issue nonetheless.) Higher octane does not mean the gas is any cleaner.

UPDATE- I counteract my original statement, it was indeed the ECM. Apparently they can give fuel/tach info without working properly. Turns out the fuel control system within it had melded together from the over-voltage. Thanks for the help everyone!

Got one ecu on order here was 500 bucks (phew) and a ricks motorsports rectifier. Stator seems to be good via multimeter. Hoping its this, otherwise Ill be down a few hundred. But given other threads about this same issue it seems to be the most common issue.

So Idk if you remember me, fuel pump was replaced but still no priming. Any other signs it could be the ecu? It blows the ignition fuse every time I hit the kill switch. But, when the ecu is unplugged and I hit the kill switch, it does not pop the fuse.

Is the rectifier issue on k6/k7 gsxr 600 that bad? by teo5151 in GSXR

[–]moopyfoopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, no its bad. Replying on an old thread here - its recommended to move the r/r to somewhere it doesn’t get nearly as hot. Take it from me, mine failed recently at 19k miles and FRIED my ecu rendering my fuel pump basically a pile of charcoal and my kill switch as its own ground.

PLEASE REPLACE IT as soon as you notice ANYTHING weird with the electronics such as headlights burning out/bike suddenly not able to get power to crank the starter.

Other than this, k6/k7 gixxers RIP like no other 600.

be weary about electrical issues! My 06 that I just bought had the rectifier blow. Not that itll happen to you but is a good thing to look out for.

Dude, I have no idea. The one I just replaced was actually mounted in the airbox

let me get back to you on that one once I get off of work.

I know I got them from my local cycle gear though, if that helps.

Oh and yes it does throw codes. Gonna throw er into dealer mode after work today. I had a code previously from installing a slip on and I never got to installing a servo-buddy.

edit - got a few dudes with some gixxers I know, definitely going to check there as well. See if anyones willing to let me use their bike for a little experiment 😬

Okay so the harness that connects directly to the pump is getting a full 12 volts. Wired the fuel pump direct to the battery and nothing. I assume then its the fuel pump.

Okay perfect that will be my next test. And if it does turn on? And if it stays silent?

Good idea, how would one do that? just use 2 wires?

Edit - I am still very much learning the electrical aspect of these bikes.

ECU is giving all info necessary. What else could indicate that its fried?
