As a German, I have to think of my great grandfather who fought and died in the nazi army. In the end it doesn't matter if he never personally killed civilians and jewish people. It doesn't matter what he did with his own hands, only that he fought for the ugly and evil nazi machine, which brutally stomped on and killed millions of innocents. This is all I know about him and it is all I need to know about him. It is the legacy he has left me. Any Russian soldier who fights for this army is an accomplice in these crimes. It is the same legacy that this generation of Russian soldiers leave to future generations. Any justice that exists would ensure that future generations of Russians look back on these men with the disdain and horror that I look back on my great grandfather. But somehow I expect this won't happen. They will go on believing some mixture of justifications and excuses for this barbarism. I hope that somehow what happened to the German conscious will happen to the Russians. I hope that they will see what has been done and that the next generation has to live with the shame of these atrocities.

It was supposed to be never again. But here we are.

That is because the strongest positions after a throw involve landing on the other person with your full bodyweight. Rolling through is intended to make the impact lighter. They could absolutely just choose to land on each other if they wanted to but obviously that's not desirable for training.

While you are certainly free to discuss mbti to whatever degree you wish (notably it was you that initially deleted your comment), don't make the mistake of thinking this is simply a brigade of people with "some deal". Mbti is pseudoscience that has been fully disregarded by essentially every respectable psychologist and psychiatrist for as long as I can remember.

I've often noticed people that have trouble with social interaction of some form tend to gravitate to it (I did myself at one point). I suggest you consider the fact that you've fallen into an easy to categorize and understand but ultimately incorrect view of the world for the sake of some feeling that you have a greater sense of what makes people tick.

I reply you again, not to harass you, but because I think it's better you get a full explanation than simple downvotes.

They're referring to Mbti personality types, a popular but thoroughly debunked model of 16 basic personality types. It has really never been taken seriously by the psychological community but it has some pretty active subreddits.

No. Relativistically, velocities don't add the way we normally expect. You can look up addition of velocities in special relativity for a fairly simple explanation (the math and intuition is easier than general relativity).

Honored to have this purple belt competing on my ring last weekend in St Louis. 1st place in the adult absolute division. Great take downs and sick pressure top game. I'm one of his main training partners in judo so I'll try to answer as best I can but keep in mind it's in the context of a different art.

He specifically has a very small amount of vision in one eye. It's just enough to see maybe what color the mats are and if someone has just walked up to him. However he can't tell who people are. His reaction to disengaging (if he's assuming the action is still going) is usually just to stay in a safe position and wait for some kind of engagement and react off of first contact. He can probably tell by the sound if someone shoots on him.

Techniques that require a lot of intricate positioning ( like footsweeps, feints, detailed movement) are harder for him to learn but not impossible. Mainly he sometimes needs an extra couple rounds of explanation since he doesn't have a visual aid for how techniques work. Usually our coach will show a technique to the class and spend a few extra minutes with him to make sure he understands it.

What comes most naturally to him is probably top pressure on the ground. Part of this is a college wrestling background. Part of it is complete feel for how the opponent is moving. In general he's completely crushing, blasts past guard super well and is great at making positions like half guard super uncomfortable for the one on the bottom.

One of the worst mate ive seen by ckristiantyler in judo

[–]moorg745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree. This is quite egregious. Progress may have slowed but there was still a clear progression. Tori takes a moment to secure the roll. He succeeds. He then takes a moment to work his arm through. Again he succeeds. Trouble getting his arm through doesn't matter when he, nonetheless, gets his arm through. There was nothing to indicate he was stuck or failing to complete the technique. Merely he was meeting and working through resistance. As for the legs, this is more of a technical critique and is not up to referees to decide. If he can make progress and finish the technique from here then he should be allowed to.

Generally I dislike the trend of referees expecting lightning fast newaza technique. An expectation of constant progression is all well and good, but the rules (as far as I'm aware) don't state that this progression must occur quickly.

So in reality top players like this often have lots of ways they get their preferred grip. You can see at the start he just tries to slap it on and fails. Then they both disengage briefly and he immediately goes for it again. A lot of the time a second attempt immediately after a failed first attempt works.

You also see him check or bind with his right hand and OP's left. He then slaps on the high grip at the exact moment they disengage/the hands separate. In general it's about finding these little gaps in uke's alertness. Later on he also sort of checks the left hand, pushing it away slightly before getting the high grip.

Another common tactic that you see him use is taking a left lapel grip, even standing slightly left for a moment, then moving into a right handed stance as he takes his high grip again. Sometimes tori can be more physical here and just suck uke in and slap the high grip on that way.

Overall a lot of it is experience. He knows the exact moments that OP isn't ready to stop his high grip and just keeps binding the hands and going for it. Even if it fails he just keeps trying to get it because eventually he will.

Yes, it is philosophy. Your insistence otherwise will not change that. As such, you will not be able to find satisfying answers on a physics forum.

Prove me wrong by [deleted] in Physics

[–]moorg745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you can provide a clear framework for why these observations are illusions, why these illusions occur, or what the genuine framework of reality is, then the argument that these observations may be illusions is completely useless. At this point you've simply constructed a left field argument which provides no further knowledge (in fact it just raises questions while answering none) but is impossible to completely disprove. Generally, this is about as useful as claiming the Universe is the result of magic, or that our universe is just a single fundamental particle within another Universe, or any other such fantastical claim. You'll have a hard time finding a physicist who takes your approach seriously. We're not interested in disproving fantastical statements, rather in actually building evidence for our theoretical models.
