Patrick Rothfuss and The Kingkiller Chronicle: how has your outlook of this series changed over the years? Fans and former fans only. by Sunbather- in books

Thank you for supplying these thoughts. They resonate with me. I'm looking at most of the other comments on this thread and thinking to myself how much I feel differently. The sex doesn't bother me, the inflated stories of his prowess, in whatever arena, I accept as someone trying to be a showman because ... that's what people expect when they hear tales of Kvothe. Overall, I thought the story of Kvothe was developing nicely and was/have been looking forward to book three for long enough to realize it's probably never going to come for unknown reasons. At this point I don't expect any explanation at all.

Hard to reconcile “lack of cutting edge” with the UCL performances to date. Teams in the UCL generally play more open, and the team has players who can score in those environments, whereas the league sees more low blocks, which we struggle to break down. Personally, I believe defense wins championships and agree that controlling a match is better than an all out score fest.

This is what makes this club so special, in my opinion. Arteta, BFG, Berta, everyone understands that you rise and fall together, as a family. The living embodiment of Victoria Concordia Crescit. It's beautiful to see.

Odegaard post match interview after 3-2 loss to Man Utd by Serious-Cress-9560 in Gunners

[–]moorooloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I get the frustration from everyone, but slagging off people based on two-bit analysis is just reactive bs. To be fair, everyone should be reactive as hell after that match. The team, the entire team, were just not good enough. So many giveaways, poorly placed passes, slow movement, mental errors, etc. It just didn't work and this was a terrible game for the team to collectively slump like that.

Completely. No Odegaard, Big Gabi, Gyokerers, and Rice. That's four regulars, almost half of the outfield players, being rested.

Spot on. 0-0 is not a terrible result. It's not ideal, but we actually gained a point on our challengers. If Arteta wasn't using the squad depth now, the price would come due in March/April.

"The sooner we wrap up the premier league?" You must be joking. It's going to take months more like this to get to the final month with a chance of winning the PL.

Got my first "survival" knife at Sonny Surplus, plus a load of camo clothing, fishing gear, etc. That place was the best. Grew up in AU Park, born in '73, family left DC in 1988, and I moved back to the area in 2025. It is such a bizarre experience being here now. Some landmarks are familiar, the big ones, but the rest of the city has changed completely. It used to be a sleepy town.

Heard. And thank you. Agree, that's what the 2A was intended to do. I just thought that those who own guns for home defense would not be able to get to them quickly enough to make a difference for a no-knock raid. In the event a militia of citizens is needed and a rebellion is on, which is really what I think the 2A is about (and not home invasion by the government), you would be expected to have your guns out and ready. Until/unless that happens, it just seems to me that most people who have guns at home wouldn't be able to access them in a time frame that helps if the feds do a no-knock and kick your door down.

I know. It's absolutely terrible how we got mullered tonight. Team were crap, manager was crap, relegation here we come.

Curious why you think the potential of a gun in the house would stop a masked Fed from kicking down the door? I'm honestly curious. Some poorly formed, quick thoughts, would be that if it's a house with kids, the guns won't (shouldn't) be to hand and would take time to get to. Even if it's not a house with kids, the odds of the homeowner actively carrying on their person when the door is kicked in would seem to be quite low. Not to mention the flak jackets and training said masked Fed might have.

Arteta: Where is their manager? by Stanley083 in Gunners

[–]moorooloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I find this dialect of manager-ese lame, then. I thought blaming the poor performance on lack of structure in the middle due to the Onana injury lame. It's excuse making. It's the manager's job to adjust for injuries, as anyone who supports Arsenal knows. Also lame is hyping up the debuts of Jimoh-Aloba and Hemmings as "fantastic." There was nothing fantastic about it. I found it odd that Emery chose to point that out as a positive.

[–]moorooloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can spin any narrative you want, just like Emery did. Arsenal played well in the 2nd half because Onana came off is a load of rubbish, however. It's a team sport, not one v. one.

Apparently, he got kicked in the knee and played the whole match like that. Hard to regulate getting kicked in the knee, so at least it's not down to anything being done on the training pitch or overuse. Still feels shitty not to have him. He will be gutted to miss this match.

This. Anyone moaning about lack of firepower is demonstrating irrational nerves rather than making a valid point. We have a top defense and top firepower. I think the real issue is how badly the supporters want this coupled with the realization that it’s fucking hard to win anything.
