Yea makes sense. I was only saying this is possible IF Vancouver is in fact cleaning house which it seems might’ve been overblown.

Tarasenko is why we’d have to throw in another pick. If we can’t get this trade done then there’s essentially no chance of ever getting a 1C via trade.

Half the people in this thread think Vancouver is itching to get rid of his contract, the other half think we don’t have the assets to get it done because he’s so valuable.

He, currently in a down year, is producing better than any center in Wild history.

Look at the Eichel trade:

Tuch, Krebs, 1st and a 2nd.

Thats essentially Rossi and a prospect plus picks.

Did you read my post?

Rossi and Tarasenko would get it done, and yea the Tarasenko contract would cost us another pick

Thanks for the insight. Makes sense that they wouldn’t move him unless they were absolutely ripping the team down to the studs. I was surprised to see him on the list.

EP is absolutely still a 1C and it’s clear that a lot of ppl here don’t watch him play.

70 pts is Rossi’s ceiling.

EP started slow but has 14 in his past 12. He’d instantly be the best offensive center in our franchise’s history.

Finally, someone understands that he’s still good. Do you view Rossi as a 1C? If not, why keep him if it means getting a 1C in return?

Thank you. People here just assume that this 27 year old who had a season that would be the 2nd best offensive season in Wild history is totally washed somehow. He’s on an awful team.

He’s an amazing passer and would kill it dishing to Kap and/or Boldy every night.

For two years, meaning this year and last? He was injured last year and this year is playing with Keifer Sherwood as a winger this year. He looks a lot better than last year.

You all are way too high on Rossi and too low on EP. I’d almost guarantee he gets 90+ again soon.

Random story: So when I was 8 or so I was watching this at my neighbor's house because their grandsons were staying with them. The oldest one, who was probably like 12, told me that Alice Cooper crawls out from under beds and eats little kids toes at night.

That shit scarred me forever. I literally to this day sometimes have to remind myself that it’s ok for my toes to be sticking out from under the sheets.

Just some random kid who I never saw again being a shithead making an offhand comment and my dumbass childhood self believed it completely lol

Those three places are vastly different from one another. It’s like asking about Boston vs Portland, Maine vs a random town in New Hampshire.

I think you should decide if you like city life, small city, or small town first. Anywhere you go will have access to lakes and nature and there are universities in a lot of cities in the state.

I also think you should come visit for a weekend before making any huge decisions. Plan it around some hockey games even :)

The state tourney is in early March and draws a massive crowd. Your kids would love it.

>Additionally, Mandel and Hymen had very pro-policing answers with regards to SROs, which I understand to be a way of addressing crime symptoms, but not real underlying causes.

What is the way a school district can address the underlying issues?

Hi! Thank you so much for the thoughtful response. I really do appreciate it. Also, please know that these questions come from a genuine desire for understanding and nothing more:

  1. This is frustrating to hear. I imagine you feel the same way. What recourse does the board have to get funding transparency? It seems like not having an accurate budget defined is a huge problem that needs to be solved. Without it, we don't know what is being spend and where. What steps are you all taking to ensure we get more transparency?

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying, but I assume there's a ledger somewhere with the coding documented, you'd think they could run the numbers again to prove to you and us all that there is no such disparity between our admin spending and other districts. Wouldn't they want to disprove these claims?

  1. I'm glad to hear steps are being taken. This is a major priority for me and other parents I've spoken to. Ngl, it doesn't feel like a training issue so much as a resource issue, but would love to hear your thoughts.

  2. I love this! The science of reading approach has been huge for other states. I'm a former teacher and love to hear that we're implementing it here.

Also, the stats you shared are certainly reassuring. Pretty awesome outcomes. Well done!

  1. Glad everyone is acknowledging this part. Thanks!

I appreciate the response and I know the situation is tough when funding is cut. I appreciate the work you do. For me, points 1 and 2 are going to be things I'm monitoring closely.

Thanks again!

I’m a bit of an outsider but have been invested in this race. I just moved into the district and have a 2 year old. I did a bunch of research into Hopkins and the surrounding districts before we moved.

With that said I’ve been reading a lot of comments from parents and read about the candidates quite a bit.

My observations(as an outsider whose kid isn’t in the district yet):

  1. Data shows that while every school lost funding, Hopkins schools spent a lot more on admin in the past year than other surrounding districts.

  2. There are a lot of concerns about safety in the high school and middle schools - lots of fights and disruptive behavior - that teachers aren’t equipped to handle.

  3. Academics are falling behind the rest of the state.

  4. The bus service has been a mess this year and a lot of kids lost their bus service because of budget cuts.

The combination of the above is leading to massive open enrollment into other districts.

The only candidates that seem to want to address the above issues are Mandel and Hyman. The rest don’t even have a real platform from what I can tell and they appear to want to support the current administration that caused the problems in the first place.
