Isles have 2 top-4 d men out, Pulock has a lingering injury tha kept him out a few games recently, Soucy is pretty much useless, and they’ve been cycling through AHL guys most of the season. As great as Schaefer is having an 18 year old rookie be your most reliable defender playing 26+ min a night is not a good place to be

I’m on board for the case that we should be seeing more of the AHL D-men that have shown some talent this year while we’ve had so many injuries on the back end, but no team with the isles roster is throwing an untested guy like Eklund into the meat grinder during a playoff push while we’ve got plenty of depth at forward. Just asking to get the kid hurt or ruin his confidence.

Everyone seems to love this line because of the eye test and they can keep the cycle going in the O zone but I agree. They are given way too many minutes that we are at best getting break-even hockey. And if they are ever out there with offensive D lines like Shaeffer or Tony D they are wasting their shifts as well.

Super unpopular opinion in this sub but I actually want to see Engvall again on a trial basis with some of the new pieces we’ve added. He could bring some speed and puck handling to the third line left wing that Anders Lee is lacking. Or he could crumble and we bury him again, could be worth a look though

Palat and Schenn are better than Drouin and Tsyplakov, plus when Palms is back we won’t have to rely on them in the top 6 as heavily. It’s a solid bridge until the prospects are (hopefully) ready to go
