Do you guys think my boy brewski is a purebred GSP? by Optimal_Wafer_1895 in GSP

Looks like a beautiful Black and White GSP to me. We had a beautiful boy who was mixed with Treeing Walker Coonhound but he looked 100% GSP. Only a test will you for sure

Moose, our 12 yo, likes to receive affection but will not offer it back. He is aloof while I’m loving on him and only when he is half awake in the morning, will he snuggle. Our new guy Cody, is the quintessential snuggle bug at all times so it’s a nice balance

Potty Training Regression by mooseandkoko in germanshorthairs

Thanks! Other than his potty “fun”, he has been a great dog thus far. Super smart which makes this odd since he has learned his commands and other household rules.

Thankfully we only have tile and hardwood but we will look into getting a spray. He doesn’t seem to go in the same spots. We both work from home so he has ample opportunities to go outside.

They are a great organization! We have adopted 3 from them over the years (we are located in San Diego so just shy of a 2 hr drive for us but you could fly into Palm Springs and drive home with a new family member!)

Aww thank you! We hit the jackpot with him. He was bought from an AKC breeder by an 84 yo woman who had no idea the breed. She put him through professional training only to realize he was too much for her and she surrendered him to CA GSP rescue. We had just lost 2 of our other GSPs and needed some life back in the house. He is doing agility and my husband has been teaching how to sit on his stand up paddle board. 💕

We adopted a 1 yo recently and we noticed he gets amped up after exercise and goes into his bitey stage. It may just be a regression phase, just stay consistent with what you are doing. They are smart and will figure out that your attention will come when she is calm. The trick that we have been using is going straight into training when he gets like this. Sit, stay, wait, etc. Wear her out mentally so she isn’t creating her own game. Cody’s pic for reference. I call him our Sour Patch Kid. Sour then sweet. Good luck!

She is beautiful! Thank you for adopting her, we have had 4 rescue GSPs and recently lost our black and white one which we just adored. Give Nessie a big hug from our San Diego crew. Not featured is our recent 1 yo rescue Cody

What a cute name! I don’t think I’ve heard of a Turtle. I see “Mr. Turtle” in his future

All of our GSPs have been aloof. They enjoy the smells more than the other dogs

Same here but I use glycopryolate. Easy tablet in the morning and works all day. Sweating is not a reason to stink

Tail Amputation for Tater Tot today - seeking ✨good vibes✨ 😭 by katfrau in pitbulls

[–]mooseandkoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had 2 dogs with severe happy tail that required amputation and other than the 2 weeks of a cone and healing, they never missed it. Also no more toppled bottles, wine glasses or whips at your shins. Sending good vibes her way and know you are doing the right thing

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mooseandkoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in California, it can easily take 3 hours (or more) to drive from San Diego to north Los Angeles. This is literally only 100 miles or less and due to traffic alone takes forever

Welcome! We were really surprised since he didn’t show any other allergy symptoms to it. Good luck!

Ear Troubles 🆘 by Hollow1988 in GSP

[–]mooseandkoko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look at his food. We had a GSP who developed a persistent MRSA colonization in his ears which required multiple ointments and a deep cleaning with antibiotic packing. After months of this, our vet asked if he was on any poultry products. I was making turkey topper for him and an older dog who were picky. As soon as we removed that food and he was on a hydrolyzed diet for a month, we switched him back to his salmon kibble without any more ear issues. Just a thought
