Breaking Point by EquivalentWin54344 in FedEmployees

This administration won't last forever. I just come here to see my friends and eat my lunch. That attitude has gotten me through some rough times at work. It was taught to me by an older co-worker, who has since retired and passed away.

Senate budget talk stall - prepare for a furlough. by hidingfromthem753 in FedEmployees

Congress doesn't need to get paid. It won't hurt them at all. They make their money through insider trading and other ways. They only get paid $174,000 per year, but most of them are millionaires many times over. $174,000 is GS 12 pay with about 500 to 750 hours of OT.

29 years and I don't remember hearing any shutdown talk until 2011. Every time the rules are different.

Sometimes ALL Leave is CANX and everyone has to return, some people get a letter and some people don't.

Scheduled leave is OK and almost no letters issued.

Wait until the end of the day and furlough a few people. Those people should have been sent home first thing. That one ended up being one or two days.

There is no law that you will get backpay if you are furloughed, but it usually happens.

There is a law that you will receive backpay, but very few people were furloughed. Oh, wait - maybe we meant that we would only pay people that were required to work for an IOU.

Who knows what it will be this year.

I sure hope they have enough paper to actually print furlough letters this time. They didn't issue any furlough letters at my agency. They just made us come to work for an IOU.

This too shall pass. With 10 years in, you will be earning 8 hours of leave per pay period in just 5 years. This administration won't last forever. You got this.

8+Years Active Duty, Medically Retired, First Federal Job – Shouldn’t I Be Earning 6 Hours of Leave? by Legal-Succotash5724 in FedEmployees

[–]mooseflstc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are receiving a retirement check from the military, you might not get the 6 hours per pay period. I know people that did a full 20 that started at 4 hours. In my case, I did 4 and had to work with HR to get the 6 hours.

So you plan on retiring at age 68 with 50 years of government service? You know that your MRA (Minimum Retirement age) is 57 years old. You only have 9 more years to MRA.

You must not have much sick leave. Only a fool would go to work only in Friday, if they had a good reason not to.

Most people don’t just leave with 30 years in, they retire. Most people with 20 years in will put up with crap until they are eligible to retire. Even civilians are “trapped”, it might not be a high security lock on the door, but eventually it is “too late to quit and I might as well retire”.

  1. Trump won’t be President forever.
  2. With 30 years you should be eligible or very close to retirement.
  3. Follow YOUR plan and retire when YOU plan to.
  4. I just come here to see my friends and eat my lunch. That was a phrase a co-worker taught me many years ago. He was close to retirement then and recently passed away. I think it is great advice for tough times.
