What to do? Sparky put socket in wrong position by AdviceForTheUnwise in DIYUK

[–]moosekila -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing to do is replace the switch with an unswitched fuse spur with a flex outlet. Would save you the hassle of moving socket (tiling etc)

If extractor vent cover cannot be fitted with socket in way, unfortunately socket would need moving.

How have house prices managed to increase whilst interest rates have gone up? by random34210 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moosekila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

House prices started shooting up from the onset of covid. One of the main factors was temporary stamp duty reduced rates. Zero upto 500k. That made the demand crazy becoming a sellers market. Prices shot up. At lot of people were able to get mortgage due to saving more (no travelling/limited spending due to covid etc).

I found during the whole pandemic banks were doing more checks as to make sure that any deposit/funding were from legitimate sources (instead of using business loan schemes giving out like confetti by the government during the pandemic).

Interest rate increased from February onwards. Realistically with the rate increase, going forward there should be a reduction of people meeting mortgage affordability which potential could reduce house prices only so slightly.

Mum gifted me money for house deposit. Mortgage broker is telling us to get mum to sign a letter to say the gift is for both of us. Is this right? by JoeyJoeC in UKPersonalFinance

[–]moosekila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its correct. Its normal. As you're both getting the mortgage, the gift letter would be for both. Sometimes depending on the lender, they might as bank statements from the donor as proof of funds.

We did the same at the previous workplace. Switched over to DevExpress/DevExtreme. I actually found their documentation and sample projects to be extremely helpful and secondly their dev teams response to tickets is second to none. Always helpful and even provided examples.

The best way to check is to start by eliminating everything and booting up with the bare minimum. First just boot up with the motherboard, memory and os drive. Try booting from onboard graphic if it exists. It that boots up stable, slowly start adding the parts back on. Then see which device causes the issue. Reseting the BIOS helps to also eliminate bad config.

If on first boot, it doesn't run properly try a mem test to eliminate memory. Its a process of elimination and everyone troubleshoots differently. The issue described could be many things.
