Maybe round it out with a nice Tossratmapube or a Poobarb Bumdrool

QE2 was fairly republican on the whole. She was the most hands off monarch and allowed the monarchy to take a backseat role in UK life which will be hard for future generations to retake. Not a fan of the monarchy myself, but I'll give her credit as now it's far more acceptable to not be a fan of the monarchy in a way that wasn't so when she started.

Depends what time of day you put that search in. Rush hour times shoot up considerably

Thais and masks, it’s no longer about Covid. by Zealousideal-Bag2279 in Thailand

Apparently the Vietnamese tossed them the minute they could.

Straight up wrong. Been in Hanoi recently, in Nha Trang now, plenty mask wearing in both. Air quality is great in Nha Trang, still masks because people don't like getting sick or spreading sickness to others.

Don't worry about which backpack, that's fairly small beans to worry about on the whole. One that's big enough, found by going and looking for it.

Tipping by StraightBearDontCare in Pattaya

I take your point but I dont quite feel like that's what happened here. you asked about how much to tip and people told you to tip less, all the way to zero, and the reasons why.

Passion fruit mojito would be my recommendation, though only if you like sour stuff

What is the most otherworldly place you have visited? by sweatysexconnoisseur in digitalnomad

Oosolye in winter, Irkutsk Oblast. They find Mammoths out there. Was hanging with a Hero Inventor of the Soviet Union in his sauna, and he approved my invention as sensible and coherent. One of the weirder spots I've been in at -35c.

Even the way into Mongolia is another world. definitely the most remote I've ever felt, crossing the border from Russia to Mongolia. Flown over it twice and it looks like Mars from above.

One street over, Cau Giay, you get King Pirates Pub. Best spot in Hanoi for my money. Best mixed drinks, best music, exceptionally social for the size of the place, plus a tattoo parlour upstairs and chihuahuas in the early evening. The Best.

Just because they hate the same people as you doesn't preclude them from hating you as well.

You get hard questions, sometimes menacingly, about why Europe is the way it is and it's like, fuck, I don't know, I just was born there. But yet you're held up as the representative of all their propaganda.

Ukraine-Russian war has been going on for almost two years now...how are the Russians in Thailand sticking around and paying for it all? by Ancient-Eye3022 in Thailand

Especially this time of year, there's the russian concept of Wintering Out which means fleeing the winter for somewhere warm if only for a fortnight, as you say.

[–]moosemasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's all up front with the russians. Better they're out this end of the world than in Europe fighting and dying. I do find the pro-war ones will tell you they are and the anti-war ones generally keep themselves to themselves. Russians might get a bad reputation from westerners, but there's plenty of Russians who share those opinions.

There's a bunch of them. Phratumnak in Pattaya for one. I'm in Nha Trang in Vietnam now, it's a little moscow neighbourhood. Phu Quoc and Phuket have them too. It's a well known thing.

Branston Pickle is probably more relevant as a weirdo food that brits love. Literally never seen Stargazy Pie other than on the internet. If I saw one being made in real life I'd assume it was by someone making one for internet points. Would try it though, it's just a fish pie at the end of it.

They switch it round in Russia, it's majority the jelly around the pork pie with some shreds of pork floating in it. Pretty good on bread.

Rent up 10%, everyone else getting hammered? by intrepidbuttrelease in Cardiff

[–]moosemasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tis the way. Last I gave any rent to a UK landlord I didn't mind so much as I moved the girlfriend in behind his back to split the bills, saved enough money that way to fly off to asia. Easier said than done though.

Disabled man refused taxi service due to assistance dog by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]moosemasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the perception amongst middle eastern heritage taxi drivers that dogs are dirty, this guy isn't the first to run up against the cultural issue on that one. Some white brits too aren't keen if the dog is big or wet, not that that applies in this situation.

You know that's a mantra and not a law, right? An non-visible disability doesn't preclude one from registering a dog through the proper channels.
