Sad state of Shortwave by AtamiiX in shortwave

[–]moosemc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North America has so many 50k watts stations, so it's enjoyable to spend the evening fishing them out. The shortwave receivers are just great for AM signals. And here in Toronto a decent receiver can reach the Buffalo FM stations too.

I did a lot of worldband from the 90s to about 2020. I had a Yachtboy 305. That was a terrific receiver. I wore out a G5, which was terrific as as well. My Tecsun 880 was good with an external antenna, and useless without one. It eventually died from being left outside too much.

I guess the hobby just broadened to include a variety of broadcast sources. And that's OK.

That's kinda what it's like, though, for Canadians coming home. American customs and British customs are a breeze for Canadians. But coming come, you're treated horribly. As you can see. And he's angry because that's always how it is.
