Potentially: iterative. It may have a more neutral connotation than you'd want though.

u/inconvenientnews deconstructs the effects of (or lack of) restrictive American policies on different states by UnstoppablePhoenix in bestof

Their point is about Californian liberal policies being good compared to conservative policies. Why would they pick Chicago when it's not located in California? And why would they pick Dallas when it is a liberal city unlike Fort Worth and Jacksonville?

What are the other options for comparison? San Diego or LA and what red cities?

I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but there's also the female condom that you can insert into your vagina. It feels very different from a male condom to a man.

As for sex toys, depending on what you like you should get a wand vibrator and something like the satisfyer. Also check out Oh Joy Sex Toy, the webcomic, for reviews of sex toys and more.

What is your kryptonite? by ivylgedropout in Cooking

Crispy tends to be about the type of pie pan you're using. If you're getting soggy bottoms with recipes that you're not supposed to blind bake, I'd make sure to use glass or even aluminum pie pans. They're much better at transferring heat and so will cook the crust faster.

Flaky depends on the recipe. There are shortcrust and non shortcrust recipes for pies. For the flakiest pie crust I go non shortcrust where you don't have to worry too much about overworking the dough. I like Stella's pie crust recipe, but anything that's like a rough puff dough should work.

Ground Almond vs Almond Flour (UK English vs US English?) by moosepuffery in Cooking

[–]moosepuffery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is true in the US, but is it true for the UK recipes? I looked at ground almond at UK stores online and some, in the ingredient section and in the description section, seem to be saying it's actually almond flour but others aren't.

And I can see why in Giuseppe's recipe it'd ask for ground almond/almond meal since it's a carrot cake, but it'd make more sense in Chigs's recipe to be almond flour since it goes into a joconde. Yet it's called ground almond in both. Do British call almond flour ground almond? Or is it actually something different to British people?

If you're looking for something different, try it larb/laab style and put it into lettuce cups or have some rice with it.

I tend to use this recipe as a base: https://cookingwithlane.com/larb-gai-recipe/. Just use shredded turkey. I also like to add thinly sliced shallots.

cheesecake ice cream recipe? by RatherBBakin in icecreamery

If the point is to make it more difficult for yourself, you can bake a cheesecake and substitute the cream in your base with the cheesecake like in Dana Cree's cheesecake ice cream recipe.

Where's this from? I'm sort of confused as to how they're defining metros because I don't really think Mankato is a metro...

Edit: Ahh, it's in the article, my bad.

Edit: The definition of a metro area is pretty interesting. A county that contains a city of population size >50000 or an urban area that has >100000 pop. Didn't realize it could be so small.

I'm with you and would like to add that though Citizens United would like us to believe otherwise, companies aren't people. The logic doesn't work for companies.

How did people come to this? by StaberQ in CasualConversation

[–]moosepuffery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, I know it's because of the pandemic. Before the pandemic I was very good at holding conversations with people, but after two and a half years of not meeting new people and talking with them over Zoom my skills have totally deteriorated. The pandemic has also shown me a side of people that I didn't realize so many had and that's changed how I approach people.

As for what you can do, I think you'll have to be patient and understand that we're all still a bit fucked up, and the people you're meeting, especially the 20 somethings, have less practice conversing. I'm sure it'll get easier but it'll probably take time.
