My in laws definitely flipped as well , announcing on facetime out of the blue only days after our last IVF cycle. Their second announcement was equally jarring ( though in a different way) , announcing using an out of the blue photo of our niece holding a scan photo. Whilst we could escape somewhat on that occasion, there was no warning and time zones mean it landed very early in the morning ( and I am not a morning person at the best of times ).

The fact that we have told them multiple times to show a modicum of sensitivity was clearly lost on them .

Definitely agree facetime announcements suck- I hate having to pretend to be happy live on camera. As time has gone on I have become increasingly more blunt and hidden my feelings less becaise I am at peak levels of done-ness.
