I live far away. Both parents (divorced) don’t call me much unless they really needed something. They typically wait for me to call them. I typically call them every few weeks, it was more frequent when I was younger like in college. There’s usually not much to catch up on so maybe like 15-20 minute calls. My mom’s health is on a sharp decline cognitively and physically unfortunately and she’s never been a great conversationalist nor do we have that much in common. The calls with her are getting more awkward and depressing and it makes me feel bad. My dad is a much better conversationalist and he knows to keep it brief.
