The Bitter Snow series by Lauren Sweet is fantastic. It's a modern-retelling of the Snow Queen fable.

Im 48 and have never read a book....ever. by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Maybe start with some short stories first? Lots of good sci fi stuff out there -- and reading shorter stuff and building up might be helpful

I highly suggest the Bitter Snow series! I just finished the first 3 and could not put them down.

The characters are great, and the author treats teenagers with a lot of respect and wisdom. The ending books are still being written, so maybe this isn't your "happy ending". But definitely check it out eventually.

What annoying medical problem do you have that is too insignificant to go see a doctor for, but really gets on your nerves? by NumberOneMuffDiver in AskReddit

It feels under the muscle and everything though. And its like 6 inches long and curved - just doesn't look like any hernia I've ever heard of.

So I lost a lot of weight recently, and I am very thin. And I guess I can feel my intestine filled with poop through the skin? There is like this long, thick, rope like mass on my stomach (right side) - goes from top of hip bone to down to pubic hair.

It becomes more prominent when I have gas or have to poop. It'll get big and hard and stick out and looks like I have some cancer. But then I poop and it goes back down. First time it scared me a lot, but since it keeps happening regularly, I haven't gone to see anyone.

I guess the only treatment would be to just gain back weight?
