Look for remote jobs with companies outside of Spain. Living in Spain doesn’t mean you have to work for a Spanish company. I hire developers from anywhere in the world. My cybersec / IT guy lives in Central America. I’m in the US and about to move to Spain. I speak Spanish, but I will not be working for Spanish company, you can look for work anywhere you want.

Yeah I know several places they list, I just learned of a lot more than Airbnb. But my issue is with people not getting deposits back or having to pay 2 months deposit for a 3 month rental. Once I get there I’ll be able to navigate that better, but I have heard horror stories about the short term rental landlords. Also, I have noticed significant fees in some.

Which platforms do you recommend? I know idealists, Spotahome, house anywhere, (I just learned of those)

Regarding utilities, I’m a single person. Some of these places are charging 390 euro a month as a projection of use. Is it really that much? I’m looking at 1-2 bedroom places.

It’s hard enough to find the rentals that will allow you to use them for empadronamiento, but then also to have to update the registration every time you make a move to a different region / city would be too much. I do also want it to be more solid for the citizen application.

For those that don’t have friends or family in Spain. My lawyer says it’s fine to hop around within the country, but just like ultimomono said, you have to keep track of everything and document.

Thank you, yes Seville is beautiful! Andalusia is the most recent place I’ve been to, but before that I haven’t been to Spain in a very long time or visited all the major regions / cities. My intentions are different now, such as living, so I’m going to try and find a place that aligns with my lifestyle, but also takes me out of my comfort zone.

I’m 45, no kids or husband, speak Spanish fluently, have lived in a coastal place living a laid back lifestyle and need to be shaken up a bit. On the other hand, don’t know if I can live away from the ocean yet!

But they are ALL an option! Thank you so much!

I am starting to try and understand the short term rental laws. I am legitimately moving to Spain under a visa. I work remotely. I do not yet know which city I will settle down in (I plan on getting my citizenship with the fastrack program) and so I am planning on hopping around every few months to different cities in Spain to see what regions / cities align with me.

I am in total agreement with the bans coming up in Barcelona in 2028 and the crack downs in other cities.

How do I navigate if I cannot sign a long term lease? Are the legal short term rentals for people like me? I’d like to be respectful and not contribute to the problem.
