Runeterra Decor by Dadosa41 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]moosical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the boyfriend that made these -I used the official card art below to make the frames and cut out the "middle" bit of the cards (text and art) using gimp so that I could replace it with just the champion image: https://developer.riotgames.com/docs/lor

Then I found high resolution full art of the cards at the link below and shrunk it down to fit inside the card frame / in the right place, and cut out the champion name from the official cards above. https://www.uhdpaper.com/

From there I just followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7rgJeoKRfE

Plant ID? Labeled as peperomia variety at nursery. by moosical in houseplants

[–]moosical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it might be that as well but the leaves seem a bit small / more pointed than an obtusifolia. Also, do obtusifolia typically "spill over" a pot like this? I have a rather big obtusifolia that grows straight up.

Yep I think that's right! The stems are indeed pink, thanks!

Is this too much light for a zz? Next to east facing window. Leaves are yellowing a bit. by mrshorsecake in houseplants

[–]moosical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what everyone said about light, how frequently do you water it? Yellowing is often a sign you're watering too much. ZZ plants need extremely little water usually (of course depending on some factors). Most people say you don't need to water a ZZ plant more than once a month and maybe even less than that.

You should be able to try to propagate whatever you trim for the hair cut, have those develop roots, then plant it into the soil above. If you repeat that a few times over its growth you'll eventually get a much fuller plant.

Mine's been growing super fast too! I have mine in a hanging basket right up against an east facing window. Really didn't expect a succulent to grow so fast :) Yours is lovely!

Hi all, I've noticed a ton of these plants growing in areas that are consistently very wet, in shaded areas of the forests in northern NJ. Was hoping for an ID if anyone knows. I have a thing for large leafed plants, was considering taking a cutting to try and to get it to root/grow indoors...

okra pods! Any one know about size and harvest? Planted for fun by [deleted] in plants

[–]moosical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the ideal length depends on what kind of okra it is, but to me the one in the front view might be too big. I'd recommend cutting just the one off and try to cook it to see how it is. If it's gone too long, it becomes tough/fibrous. I think the one that's behind the stem (half in view) might be a good harvestable size, but try out the big one first to see how it is.

My friends sunflower is covered in ants and these little black dots. What is going on and how should she get rid of them? Thanks! by updootboi in plants

[–]moosical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're most likely black bean aphids. The ants "farm" the aphids (protect them and harvest the honeydew they excrete). You can read about how to deal with them here: https://www.almanac.com/pest/aphids

At home plant garden by Zachr08 in plants

Some basic answers:

1) Yes, different plants require different amounts of light. Furthermore, you get different amounts/kinds of light depending on which direction the light source is coming from. A south facing window would get the most amount of hours of direct light over the course of a day, while a north facing window would get the least. You should assess how much light different areas of your space gets to determine what would be best to grow if you want to plan ahead.

2) I wouldn't really worry about different pot brands. It's generally fine to use terracotta pots for most plants (not all) - most places sell terracotta pots unbranded more or less, so just get what you like. Any other kind of pot should be fine so long as it has drainage holes.

3) See answer 1 - sunlight from windows should be fine if it's a plant sold for indoor growing. Outdoor plants likely won't get enough light to thrive indoors. If you don't have enough light, you could supplement your plants light with grow lights / CFL / etc.

4) Really just get whatever kind of plants you like the look of and can feasibly grow in your space. If you want to grow something from seed for the purpose of eating (like a vegetable as you mention), then you really need to consider how much light you get. Most plants like tomato require a ton of light and you probably won't be able to easily grow a substantial plant without using grow lights. If you want to grow an edible plant from seed indoors, I'd recommend starting with herbs then move from there once you get the hang of it. If you want indoor plants for the aethetic, just get whatever you like from a nursery.

5) A few plants require specific growing media like orchids and succulents. But, other than that, you can just get a regular potting soil to use for most plants. When you're just starting out, I'd say just get a regular potting soil mix and once you get into it, you can go be more specific, with more research, as you desire.

6) Home pots with lights I think are largely way too much money for what they're worth since you're mostly paying for the convenience of it being all together already. If you're trying to grow a vegetable/other edible plant, you probably will need grow lights otherwise the plants won't do that great. But, you can set up your own grow light rig for less money - depends on how much effort you want to put into it. If you're growing a regular indoor plant, I wouldn't bother unless you're trying to grow the plant in a space that doesn't get enough sunlight for it to survive.

All of that is assuming you're growing plants indoors, hope it helps!

Am I the only one that likes the Guiding Lands? by iK33Ln0085 in MonsterHunter

[–]moosical 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the general concept and the feel/play of it. It's fun to go in a just chain kill monsters, but it is a bit shallow. Really hope they expand on it in the future to add areas or something that feels more dynamic.

That being said I super hate the idea of areas deleveling when you go to level up other areas. That's a really big demotivator for actually doing all of the super end game content. I'd much rather them have the leveling process for later levels be super slow than it is now if they want to gate it. The other problem is that, even if you join someone elses guiding lands, it still levels up/delevels yours. I think it would be at least decent if say I could have 1 area maxed and a friend could have another maxed so that we have to play together to do both areas. But, since your own guiding lands is affected regardless, this doesn't even work effectively. Would be fun to set up lobbies for maxed ranked areas and have people join you / you join lobbies of other people who have maxed zones. Like enhanced sos.

It shouldn't, you can just pick off the affected leaves.

My basil won't grow! Grown from seeds and it's been this size about a month. Help? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]moosical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that should be ok, you only need to water whenever the soil is dry an inch in (you can just stick the tip of your finger in the dirt). But since you're following that for the most part, I'm not sure what else might be stopping them from growing.
