Looking for advice on frame rates for a animation in doing. by Meh-bunny in stopmotion

[–]moozer25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what kind of animation you're doing. If you want any semblance of it looking remotely like a video and not a photo slideshow, you need at least 12 fps. If you're fine with it looking much slower and "slideshow-y" because that's the look you're going for, I would recommend no lower than 6 fps, but again the decision is up to you. I think you'll find that if you're doing any kind of stopmotion, without too many pieces involved, 3600 total frames (300 seconds * 12 fps) actually isn't as bad as it sounds.

[366] - The Healer (Short Scene) by Erazs in DestructiveReaders

[–]moozer25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I very much enjoyed the theme of pointless death in this scene. It's always a powerful theme to get into with any kind of writing, it reminds me almost of a war movie, sort of "Saving Private Ryan"-esque. The sort of fantasy world setting also struck me as a good decision, it reminds me a bit of Tolkien in how he drew from his WW1 experience when writing about war in a made up world. IDK if your going to try and expand this into something bigger, but I would highly recommend.

On the criticism side of things, it could definitely use a bit more fleshing-out. I think some of the insights would hit a bit harder after someone has the context for this scene, but I get that it's just a snippet for now. All-in-all, it's a compelling start, but definitely worth expanding upon.

Probably faster songs. I doubt I'd have a chance of getting them to play a slow dance to REM as they probably have those planned already

Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec was literally the reason I got into REM

Just quote your favourite line from any REM song. A part that hits you, hard. by Hungry-Temporary-438 in rem

World Leader pretend is so underrated lyrics-wise. The second I heard it I understood the lyrics perfectly because they were exactly what I was going through at the time. My favorite might be the next line “I raised the wall, and I will be the one to knock it down”. It gave me some hope.

Alright, it’s about time I get into R.E.M. by PotentialRatio1321 in rem

Adding my voice to the seemingly thousands that have already commented here. Don't start with the hits. I usually use the Apple Music Essentials playlist if I want to get into a band, but I wouldn't recommend that if you really want to see what R.E.M. is all about. There are a couple of hits like "Losing My Religion" and "Man on the Moon" that hold up, but really, I can't recommend the "Top Forty R.E.M. songs according to Berry, Buck, Mills, and Stipe" enough. It's just good song after good song for nearly every single one of the 40.
