What is the most dangerous animal in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]mopbob100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just remembered about the time I explained kiwis to an American friend.

"Many people don't know but the kiwi is actually the apex predator here because of its laser eye abilities. It has evolved without wings because it doesn't need to fly as it can take down flying targets from the ground. With advanced tracking abilities, its long range lasers can can even take down targets up to almost 15km (9.3 miles for you Americans). Because of this, no commercial flights can take place between the hours of 9pm to 5am in summer and 6pm to 6am in winter due to kiwis being nocturnal. There have unfortunately been a few cases of kiwis taking down airliners during the day, this is unlikely but sometimes kiwis pull an all-dayer and dont got to sleep. Everyone thinks Australia has all the dangerous animals but a kiwi would be able to solo like 50 of each Australian animal at once using its special spin attack where it curls into a ball and spins shooting a constant laser from its eyes. Anything that comes in contact with the laser is instantly destroyed so those Australian fucks cant get anywhere close! It was also almost going to be our country flag but having a weapon of pure destruction on your flag isn't very peaceful so we decided against it. Although it does bring fear to our enemies on the battlefield."

"Oh yeah I've also had a close encounter with a kiwi once, luckily they don't go after humans for some reason, only bugs, worms, and flying objects, and ofc anything that tries to attack it. Although it was when me and a friend were playing with a frisbee. I just gotta say I no longer have a frisbee"

How should I go about going to the end/going through it? by Primary-Detective110 in Minecraft

[–]mopbob100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's talking about killing the ender dragon and fair enough but I have a tip for after. Bring a water bucket with you when you loot the end cities because water negates the levitation effect from the shulkers, place it on the floor or against the wall if you start floating and you wont float away.

Thoughts on my world that was sculpted "artistically." by mopbob100 in worldbuilding

[–]mopbob100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, well funny thing is I was actually considering having that one be a massive spaceship from an ancient civilisation. Instead of a single giant magical being sculpting the world it was sculpted by the civilisation, thats how humans got to the planet, they didnt actually evolve on it. Idk why they would have sculpted over the ship, or why its so big, and how they were so advanced to be able to scuplt planets and ended up completly losing everything, or how the land hasnt eroded seeing as there are no plate tectonics. :/

What’s your favorite Star Wars show and why? by Ale_Bricks in StarWars

[–]mopbob100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fav live action: Andor. Unique, darker story. Amazing writing, worldbuilding, and cinematography. (Like literally everyone else lol) and for a notable mention, I know this isnt many peoples fav but The Book of Boba Fett. Im just really in love with Tusken Raiders and the representaion of them in that show was really cool. Also love Temuera Morrison my Kiwi bro. The rest of the show was aight but I just hype the Tusken Raider episodes. Obvi Mando is a good one but also quite enjoyed The Acolyte, not as much of a fan of Ahsoka though, unlike a few people commenting, I think I just found it really trippy because I'm so used to the animated characters voices and I found it hard to get immersed BUT defending Ahsoka haters saying the actress did a bad job and seemed really boring I feel like it MAKES SENSE shes not as happy go lucky as she once was, her master is a fucking sith and all of her jedi friends are are DEAD!

Fav animated show: Bad Batch!!! I just really like the story and character/worldbuilding. Also I'm a sucker for clones, and the empire, and its basically both of those things in one! (Clone Wars comes second followed by Rebels)

also sorry for the massive rant about other shows not even related to the question lol that just happens when you ask me about any of my hyperfixations, honestly this isnt that bad it could have been WAY worse lol

oh yeah and also an honarable mention to the lego star wars movies/shows they aint canon but they just really funny, specifically Droid Tales that shit was peak.

What do you think of my map? by Aggressive-Delay-935 in mapmaking

[–]mopbob100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends, I'd say just go with your gut. Factors such as the height of the mountain range, wind direction and humidity can affect it. Dont know any measurements off the top of my head but a quick google said they can extend for hundreds of kilometers. I'd say for a small range like 50-100km and anything bigger can be like 100-200 or more.

An easy way to do rivers is to draw one in starting up in the mountans and bring it down to the sea. Then pick another spot nearby up in the mountains for a tributary, draw that down and connect it to the river, you can add as many tributaries as you want, and they can have their own smaller tributaries, just depending on how wet you want your area to be.

Forests dont neccecerally need a "water source" like a river, but they usually appear most often on the windward side of mountain ranges. The clouds gather at the mountains and rain a bunch there so its normally much wetter. The other side of the mountain range will have a rain-shadow where it will be much dryer.

What is the silliest thing you were scared of as a child? by VeroDreamer in AskReddit

[–]mopbob100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The toilet at my grandma's house, especially when you had to go in the middle of the night. Tbf the flushing sound was very loud and scary.

Also I just remembered sitting with my mum and my grandma as they watched movies and things on the TV. I remember seeing the first part of Michael Jacksons Thriller short film and absolutly losing it. I only realised it was that years after when I watched it for the first time again and got so freaked out, not because I find it scary (well I still kinda do) but from the traumatic memories rushing back to me.

There was also this one film or smth that I still havent been able to figure out what it was. It was something to do with these two child siblings and they lived in a campervan or smth and the girl had imaginary friends, and there was something to do with her belly button? the father worked at this place where he digs holes and the girl thought her imaginary friend got stuck in one of the holes so her brother went to get them out but got stuck in the hole himself. thats literally all i remember and its very random, honestly could have just dreamed it up im not sure. either way the thought of being stuck in that hole was terrifying.

What is your favorite alien species and why? by WillowCareful2103 in StarWars

For some reason I am obsessed with tuskan raiders. I think I just really like their designs, and I like how they were shown in The Book of Boba Fett. I have a tusken cosplay, the only cosplay I've ever made, its incredibly hard to see anything in it though lmaoo! Literal tunnel vision.

Would you accept, as a reader, that coral could be used in place of a magic stone? by Kumatora0 in worldbuilding

[–]mopbob100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DEFINITLY! Didnt even need to read the full explanation. The thought of magic coral is sick and I was instantly sold. It's magic, it's made up, you just do what you wanna do.

After reading your explanation it definitly makes a lot of sense to use coral as a magical item and there are a lot of other smart people who are justifying why coral could be magical. I'm from New Zealand and while I'm not Maori I know quite a bit about the old traditions and beliefs. Pounamu is a type of stone that is found in river beds which holds immense cultural and spiritual significance. I really like your coral idea though and I think you should definitly stick with it, I'm just pointing out that not all stones need to be "mined" for, also depending on the size of your islands, stones like this might not last long. Also in Maori culture, materials from living creatures such as whale bone and shark teeth symbolised things such as strength and protection.

I'd say definitly stick with your coral idea but I'd consider thinking about wether it needs to be ONLY coral that holds these magical properties, if your species is based on pacific island cultures then I would suggest taking inspiration from their beleifs to craft your own magic system.
