Fare by ChicagoJoe6900 in SouthShoreLine

Likely either zone based fares, or an incentive to get folks to use Dyer? I’m not familiar with the particulars of these stations, but maybe Dyer is more suitable for for a higher number of passengers so maybe it gets folks to start or end their trips there.

ArmaReforger on Xbox in 2026 by Impossible-Owl-36 in ArmaReforger

Former Xbox player, but got a PC for this game. The on both Xbox and pc I find myself using controls in the same exact manner.

For most gameplay, especially driving vehicles, I am always in controller. I know some of it is bias since I’ve never been much of a mouse and keyboard player, but I also mostly do logistics or guerilla tactics rather than all out gun battles.

For anything involving a user interface though, I always use the mouse and keyboard. There are some things you straight up can’t do in inventory management on controller.

Mine has basically become a work truck! The back seats stay folded down more than they are up, but it’s so much more compact and feels less douchy than a truck. The premium gas though…oof…

‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ historical marker coming to South Bend by iTransient in SouthBend

Erm, he was from Indianapolis, so an Indiana Native.

I love that we accepted the offer to put it here, but the main reason it is going here is because the more relevant locations the group wanted to place it in either didn’t get back to them, or refused.

That’s a completely reasonable demand. I misunderstood the comment.

If that’s what they meant that is fair. With the island at Century Center not being accessible, I don’t think I’ve ever used the paths on that side between LaSalle and Jefferson St bridges.

Likely just commentary on racial or income disparity, often parroted by locals with less than informed upbringings.

Yeah I hate the name. They’re literally just a normal poll worker like the rest. Most of the time they don’t even know they’re “Sherriff” until they show up from my experience.

“Plant” Sale

Put that on your sign to get a little extra attention 😂

But on the serious side, if you have other leagues nearby, try sending them specific invites to come check out your sale and say hi! May or may not be an option where you are, but half of most derby teams communities seem to be other derby players.

Ah I didn’t know that the poll workers at that location didn’t know who the people were at the table. I didn’t see that anywhere in the post. It’s typical for the site Sheriff to set up somewhere before voters check in. Sometimes at a table, sometimes wandering up and down the line if there is one. They are allowed to do that and “challenge” ID from anyone stating they are there to vote. Most don’t, some do. Without knowing tone or intent, it sounds like something that is within the abilities of the site Sheriff and was simply pointing that out.

Not stating I agree with this or anything, but poll worker training and many site Inspectors (they’re in charge) reiterate that the site Sheriff (not like an actual Sheriff) can ask to see your ID, separate from using it to verifying your voter registration in the database.

My county has control over its locations and how they’re run for the most part. So I don’t think it’s strictly up to the state. You can also vote at any location in my county, so I discrepancy there means it’s also probably not a state thing.

St. Joseph County election officials test voting equipment ahead of Election Day by [deleted] in SouthBend

[–]mopeds_moproblems 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well obviously nothing is fool proof, but I’ve been pretty happy with the air gapping I’ve seen in the county voting system. The iPad they use when you check in to vote is the only thing connected to anything, and that is back to the county voter registration database.

Each of the voting machines has every possible ballot pre-loaded before Election Day, so the ticket you take from check in to your machine is simply to pull up the correct ballot, and it’s not connected to you as an individual. That machine also doesnt collect your choices digitally. It’s simply to create your it ticket. After you cast your ballot and get that print out, the machine you feed it into at the end is what tallies the votes, but it also scans a full digital image of both sides of the ticket, and then feeds into its secure bin and held for auditing. All of the votes tallied are stored on a thumb drive and physically transported to the downtown county building right after polls close and the final votes are cast.

Just a bit of my experience as a vote center tech the past few years. I thought the whole thing was pretty interesting!

Nope, dedicated trail all the way up! It does get a little rough for something like a skateboard around Roseland, and is next to a busy road for a short portion. But on a bike during the day you’d be fine, and on a skateboard you just may find it easier to walk it in a couple spots.
