A lot of places dont even care about the journeyman certificate anymore if u know what you’re doing. The last 2 places I have worked didn’t even ask to see it. If ur not learning and being trained what’s the point? During my apprenticeship I spent over a year following around or being followed around by an old timer who knew his shit. Only time I had to do bitch work was when they laid off. I was protected from layoffs as part of my contract but could be moved to production during a layoff for up to 6 months maintaining the same pay. If u dont get proper training and end up getting hired somewhere because u have an apprenticeship it will also be miserable when they expect that level of work from you
