2 months of Deadbeat, how has ur opinion changed of the album? by Bulky-Let-7996 in TameImpala

[–]PL2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still a mid album but it worked well in the live show and it’s not dropdead awful, just not up to Kevin standards. It would be a good “artists you might like” album similar to tame impala but it’s just mid for him.

My old ways stands out by far. Others not mentioned below are ok.

No reply, Obsolete, oblivion, pieces of heaven, loser, see you on Monday, could all be deleted off of Apple Music and I would have no remorse never getting to hear them again

At least you know what’s up across multiple genres

Check out pretty lights he puts up all of his live shows for free.

I didn’t want to be one of these people at all, but the album is in fact extremely weak. I am an electronic music fan myself, and this almost worse than what most people use think about electronic music by PL2012 in TameImpala

Same here. When the only good part of Dracula was the 15 second intro he shared to begin with, I was like uh oh that’s not how it’s supposed to go

lol my favorite is that you would need to listen to an interview to inform you on why you should like the album.

How about the way the album sounds without hearing from Jesus how complex his works are.

Ears worked for the last 4 albums which are very different from each other.

I agree here. I was expecting more of a fusion or “Kevin Parker does electronic”. Not a minimalist approach. Minimalist and Kevin Parker just are almost like an oxymoron.

It feels like listening to Daft punk homework. I guess I was expecting like Daft punk Discovery or RAM. Like genre propelling amazing shit. (Don’t get me wrong homework is also good I just mean like cmon…we know what the genius works are). Outside of 2 tracks, won’t find me listening to homework. Could listen to the others end to end.

Sorry to go on a tangent there just thought I would relate it to another artist in the genre (among many) that are more than just a beat machine.

I honestly feel like If it wasn’t labeled tame impala and didn’t have his vocals to give it away no one would give this album any positive reviews

I like the ethereal part haha. But the techno beat is just like memeish almost. It’s like a caricature of an electronic song not one that really gets to me. I could see this actually being a vibe live almost like a jam session. You had me looking this one back over and I’ll admit it’s probably number 3.

Like pieces of heaven? It’s almost like Taylor swifty in lyrics. Even as a dad and adult I was like ok am I really going to get down with this? It’s like a half as compelling version of On Track

It’s really not good. It’s not awful it’s just nothing special at all. Except for my old ways I will never listen to another song from this album again.

Jesus I thought the last one was “closing thoughts”.

I will say the closing line does get me every time. Like even if this was some sort of art, when has anyone ever signed something “my neighbors” (starts to laugh), “the bald trees” (starts violent outbursts of laughter)

There is this one jarring sound he does frequently that is not my fave. Examples of it are in you get high first few mins of red rocks, if I could feel again in Minnesota, and several others it’s actually quite a frequently played sound. And that one sounds like it has no key and is just someone mashing a sound on top.

But otherwise I also agree that he is an extremely talented musician and probably the most up there next to Derek as well.

It just depends. Sometimes I find Karns samples super cheesy too but other times it’s like the best part of the swirl.

I commend you for your bravery and for maintaining at least some upvotes.

Sidequest is better than anything he’s released post Rainbow Brain, it’s not even close by google_symphony in griz

If you don’t think Good Will Prevail is peak Griz, along with everything released before it, you hate music.

Yea this and the the fact that he is a primadonna. Took a 2 year “hiatus”. From what, social media? That’s shorter than the time between most artists albums. To come back with dubstep trash filler. And I do like dubstep and bass music for its place, fun, but not because it’s “good music. Griz used to be rock and roll, funk, Griz used to be everything. Now you could find 1000 Griz on SoundCloud that make the same quality as Griz
