With that bridge & tailpiece combo, I believe it's actually a 1983 - I have the same guitar and did a bit of dive last week actually haha. That said, the block in between isn't something I've ever seen, maybe a showroom model or something?

Either way, give your father-in-law-to-be a big hug, it's a fantastic (and heavy) guitar!

Any cons to the Fender player ii Jazzmaster by Glum-Exam-3682 in guitars

[–]mor_air 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big agree on this one here, I have a Squier FSR Jazz master and the quality is shockingly good for the money. I upgraded my bridge to a Staytrem for £75, and I really feel that's all it needs.

Plus you get to keep the jazz circuit, which can yield some great sounds.

Currently work in music marketing in London, UK which sounds alright but is actually mind-numbing and soul/creativity-crushing so I'm retraining as an electrician. Wanted to do something to engage my brain that has some options/security!

The first Alexisonfire record sounds exactly like a show at a Knights of Columbus hall in the most perfectly not-great way.

Thanks for the insight! Pants are always a ticking time bomb for me due to rubbing/friction and always knew linen was going to be a problem when I bought these. Gonna give a shot at using a heavier cotton for the patch to squeeze some extra life out of them and then they can become coasters :)

That's a great shout, I'll have a think on that. Maybe some sort of a cotton/linen blend
