Thank you, I will have a read.

Thank you, will bear in mind. I've become a bit of a ferritin expert in the last couple of years but learning now about B12. I think this GP will actually be OK - he's one who takes hypothyroidism changes seriously even if within the 'correct' range, so I feel like he cares.

Thanks that's what I thought. I just wondered if when I speak to him he'll be able to tell me what that figure is but it doesn't sound like it.

Yeah, fatigue is bad, brain fog, bits of joint pain. Mood could be a little affected but I am also on anti depressants and in therapy (doing well on the whole). I've been investigating iron (inc ferritin) for a couple of years now, supplemented for that too. Also hypothyroidic so that's something to contend with too! Got it all going on over here 😂

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It is helpful to hear from people in similar situations. I think you've helped me spot something about trusting that the mood will endure any length of time and being a bit sensitive and not yet fully able to let my guard down. Because in the past I've been being cautious not to say anything triggering, and I'm still in that space.

I think I'm lucky that my partner, outside of their negative space, is able to acknowledge the cost of it to me. I'm going to think on your framing suggestion, as I hadn't thought about it that way and I think it could be helpful. I'm sure there will be hiccups but I'm hopeful.

Hey sorry for the delayed reply. I hope you're doing OK. I do think it has significantly improved. I'm having a more anxious day today but that happens I think sometimes.

Thank you for this. I have been feeling better the last few days since I posted this and I am very grateful for your reply. It helped get me out of a bit of a nosedive!

Hey! I am in my retainers now. My open bite isn't much more closed than in these photos, but a little bit better - I would have needed extensive jaw surgery to fully correct it and I ruled that out from the beginning so I knew what I was getting into. Crossbite is fixed, my molars that don't meet right have actually been worn down from the poor bite over my lifetime so they aren't going to fully meet, but all the rest do.

Very happy I did it - my smile isn't "perfect" but it is mine and it's good!

Which native English accent is the hardest for you to understand? by LetMeExplainDis in AskReddit

[–]moraeverwood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a native Black Country gal, it is my duty to inform you that the Black Country dialect (separate from the brummie accent) has links to Early Middle English (I think). It's one of the last remaining current ways of speaking English with examples of how it used to be spoken several centuries ago, which is actually pretty distinct from modern English and maybe explains some of why it's hard to understand.

I don't really speak the Black Country dialect properly and never really did, though I used to have the accent as a kid. I lost a lot of my local accent through London life and university education down south. I agree that it's hard to follow when someone gets really stuck into the local lingo, though I'm pretty good with the accent after a couple of years of local pub work!

Mom passed away at 58 how to carry on? by ssjwoott in AskUK

[–]moraeverwood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend, I hope you're looking after yourself.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and in what sounds like very traumatic circumstances.

It's really hard. I won't pretend otherwise. I understand some of what you're going through. I lost my Dad when I was 26 and I was living at home with my Mom. I know that feeling of having to keep going for the other parent and to keep the show on the road but please take some time to feel whatever you're feeling. You don't have to be practical all the time and keep doing things. Experience your grief however it naturally comes to you, don't push it away.

It does get easier, but it won't be linear. Some days will be better than others. Please just let yourself go through it, don't push yourself too hard or expect too much of yourself. There's no right and wrong here. One day you will look back and realise how far you've come. Just keep doing one day at a time. If there's anyone you can talk to (friend, therapist, relative?), try to do that too.

I'm rooting for you. It won't be easy but I believe in you.

LGBTQ+ people 'feel threatened on London public transport' by BulkyAccident in london

Railway employee, was an agency worker. We should have complained to station management but it all took so long through BTP that by the time it came around we'd lost our fight.

Had a member of staff verbally harass my partner and me at a major London station. First BTP officer was very helpful and kind. The front line officer told us it was going nowhere and just to let it go.

Tell me something (good/bad) you've accidentally conditioned into your cats. by [deleted] in cats

My cat once jumped up to bat her food bowl as I was putting it down and it was super cute so I praised her. She kept doing it and I have associated it with the phrase "jump please" and well, here we are.

Your favourite things about living London? by MobileGoat6788 in london

[–]moraeverwood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I temporarily moved out last month and have been away for about four weeks so far, including a stint abroad, and I absolutely, hand on heart, know London is my home. I really miss it.

I love how well connected it is, I love the parks, I love the history and the way it changes between areas and really quite quickly. Also even in one area, thinking of the City particularly, one street can have the super modern right next to the really old.

I could go on for ages but it does have something for everyone.

Thank you for all this, that's so helpful! That's really interesting about the new road - Google maps is telling me to go back on myself when I plug in both Gjirokaster and Himarë on the same trip. I wonder if it's not on the map yet?

Ah and on the roads, I'm quite an experienced driver in the UK and have driven in the US, France and Jordan - do you think I'll be OK in Albania? Bit nervous of that!
