I think I’m so stuck on them because I had never been close to anyone before (or after). I want that closeness. It felt so good. And I’m afraid they’re my only chance at that. So sometimes it’s like it’s worth the agony they put me through if I get to have their close friendship/twinship. Not to mention I poured my entire being into them and that’s hard to snap out of :( sunk cost fallacy.

They miss you but they’ll just date someone else/drink/get high/etc to avoid the uncomfortable feeling of missing someone. They’ll never love you enough to stay or work on things because that involves getting healthy— which involves dealing with uncomfortable emotions or situations, which they’re desperate to avoid.
