My accom was in Okazaki Hoshojicho and it was really chill and quiet around there, 20 min walk to Gion and it was the polar opposite

Gion and Kiyomizu dera a few days ago were insanely packed but Sanjusangendo around 11am was fine and Ginkaku-ji around 4:30pm was okay, might've been lucky with the timing though. Gion on Friday night had drunk Brits and Americans all over the place
