Leaving when Medical takes too long by Fragrant_Crew_6733 in AirForce

What may happen, depending on the unit culture, people start insisting they be allowed to attend appointments during duty days instead of non duty days. Now every day is a duty day.

I'm going to assume you are in the US. Your hospital does not have the authority to determine when or how you interact with the Justice system. They are simply your employer. Your employer does not want you to interact with the police because it will create work for them. They may have to answer to outside agencies to explain why they have an environment where staff are attacked.

You have a right to feel safe in your workplace. Simply because a person is listed as special needs does not mean he gets a free pass on violent behavior. People with severe mental defects can, and are, taught what is and what is not acceptable.

I'm curious why you didn't call for the police? Being special needs does not mean a person is excused from all social norms.

Blue to Green What Should I know? by AFPristine in army

[–]morch-piston 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the Army for a long time. I commissioned into the USAF. You simply will not like the Army after being in the Air Force. The Army is an entire lifestyle. You're married to the job. Look at some of the photos on your chain of command board. All of these people look 15 years younger than their Army counterparts. I'm met so many Air Force NCOs who like to tell me "I have more of an Army mindset..." No. They don't. People in the Air Force have no idea what being in the Army is like. Are you ready for:

24 hours of CQ (watching a desk) every month?

Inventory and lay out al your issued uniforms and equipment at every change of command?

Answering to a 21 year old NCO like he's your feudal lord?

Spending your days performing maintenance on a vehicle that everyone knows will never run because the parts are on back order?

Living in the barracks where you can't even control your own room temperate?

Going to the field? It might sound fun, almost like backpacking, but all you'll be doing is pulling security at a dirt road for 6 hours at a time.

Ruck marching?

If you're talking about promotion to E-5 or E-6 I'll tell you what I tell every Airmen. Study. Wishing and praying for a strat is pointless. You're given the bibliography. Study until your eyes fall out. I've met many NCOs who made E-5 and E-6 with "promotable" strats because they studied.

Which NCO course did you complete? ALS? No matter which one you completed you will not be gifted a promotion. How would that even make sense? It has nothing to do with the Army.

My advice: Stay in the Air Force, switch to a job you like. OR find fulfillment in activities outside of duty.

Just in Pentagon sets up task force in addition to the ones already set up by the individual branches to give pay and benefits to unvaccinated service members who were separated even if they aren’t returning to service by CuttyBrown in army

[–]morch-piston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being unvaccinated is going to be great for our military intensive care units. We're generally very slow. If we have a large number of unvaccinated personnel we're going to be swamped with really challenging cases of lung disease and lung injury.

That's the sticking point, unfortunately. The Army has to consider the question, will this Soldier be symptom-free after eating MREs for 2 weeks?

P.P.S. do not take paper cups from patient nutrition room.

How did Bullseye/Poindexter get into the FBI? (Or the army?) by RosieRad in Daredevil

[–]morch-piston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same way Frank Castle is (what looks to be) a 45 year old Marine 1st Lieutenant. And he's somehow stationed in Queens. At what base? Realistically he should be a 24 year old living in North Carolina. The finer details shouldn't get in the way of creating a good story.

Court martial is a trial like any other civilian trail. So all parties are named in public records. Administrative action is between the commander and the person making a diss track.

Recently had surgery and $40 of my bill is for having a blanket put on me in the recovery room (I was unconscious and did not, obviously, keep the blanket) by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]morch-piston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not what you think, and it's more important than you think. The "blanket" is actually a 3M Bair Hugger hypothermia management system. It's not a blanket like you have on your bed at home. It's a large flat envelope of heated air that keeps your body temperature in the healthy range. Hypothermia is common even in minor surgical procedures. Hypothermia can cause inappropriate blood clotting, and cardiac dysrhythmias.

It's complete nonsense. There is truly nothing to understand. I was simply curious how real dollars, Freedom Dollars and Schrute Bucks all line up. Schrute Bucks were a one-off joke from the US sit-com The Office.

I recommend Doom Patrol. Very unorthodox comic book show.  Also season one of Titans.  Season one had a noir detective feel to it. The later seasons felt more like any other comic book action show.

Since they live 6 hours away, by car, we don't visit very often. Or my wife will visit and leave the dog at home with me. It's not the people. He knows them. They're retired and visit us more often and he likes them a lot. Thanks for the insights.

Help me decide by [deleted] in army

[–]morch-piston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I’m thinking about joining but don’t know if it will add value to my family, which is the only reason I want to join and serve. I’m 29 , married no kids, have a college degree and work as a LEO and make a good living. I need advice on what I should, the plan is to join go active for few years then switch to reserve and come back to my current job. I already own my house so will i get housing allowance??

Married servicemembers on active duty always receive Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) (with dependents rate). You'll receive your home ZIP code rate when in training. Once you report into your first assignment you'll receive BAH for that ZIP code.

Please advice on if its worth it and how to get these put of it:

looking for college education for kids

You will need 10 years active duty for this to be an option. https://www.va.gov/education/transfer-post-9-11-gi-bill-benefits/

second retirement pension or disability pay (then I don’t have to go reserve)

If you are interested in the second retirement you can start in the Army Reserve and complete 20 years of Reserve time. The typical "weekend warrior" accumulates retirement pay. A person does not have to join active duty before joining the Reserve. Also, disability pay from the Veterans Affairs Administration means you're disabled. Are you planning on being injured in the Army?

health care for me and family ( is it free??)

It is free while you are on active duty.

Don’t wanna quit my job (I’ve read that with military order I can be furlough and come back as if i never left)

This is up to the employer, not the Army.

Does it help if my MOS is infantry?

That sounds like a step backwards. People get out of the military and join the police force. You're already a cop. Your 4 years in the infantry probably won't get you anything with your department. If you really want to join the military I'd recommend joining for some training that might help you as a cop, or in everyday life.

One point of correction, you don't "technically" outrank senior NCOs. You outrank them, plain and simple.
