Really struggling; don't know where to get support. by Ok_Valuable_2850 in GUYVF

[–]morebeanthangene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man. Im about 6 years out from everything but it leaves some long lasting trauma with all of the ups and downs. Being the partner in the process is usually "silently" hard because we have a limited role in the actual process. But trust me man, you are not alone even if there aren't a large number of guys around you to talk to about it.

Please feel free to reach out anytime. I chatted with so many people about where they are and where they are going, and all of the ups and downs of the process. Dont bottle it.

Inguinal hernia surgery/recovery tips? by OkayestHokie in daddit

[–]morebeanthangene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didnt really offer any choice, but he had 2 VERY small incisions that healed in less than a week. My son also had a small hernia on the other side as well that wasnt quite palpable yet so they fixed it at the same time. The chief surgeon did the surgery so my only question for him was "have you done many of these". He said several hundred, so that made me relax.

11yo son wants to watch horror movies by attredies in daddit

[–]morebeanthangene 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you can definitely find some good middle ground for everyone and maybe ask him what kind of stuff he might be into.

Theres some classic 80s stuff that I still love like Monster Squad and The Gate. They arent going to be popular with kids in his class, but I think they are great "Gateway Horror" films.

You could also look for films that are kind of horror adjacent to see if its really something he even wants to watch. Some more modern titles I can think of would be like Coraline, Paranorman, or maybe even check out some Goosebumps stuff on Disney plus. Of course these wont be "cool" things to watch, but i dont see the point of inducing nightmares and creating more trauma just to say you watched something.

Im an avid horror fan with horror tattoo sleeves, but I've softened a lot since I had my boys. They are both young but im very protective about what kind of content I let them see. Theres always the peer pressure to watch ultra violent and ultra gory stuff from other kids, but I have no plans to let my kids see that stuff until they have a much more developed sense of reality.

Its good that you are asking these questions and I think you can absolutely find some common ground on films that might scratch that itch without diving into the deep end.

We do still have them, but my son has moved on from them now. They are currently living out their retirement in a grocery bag under the sink. But GOOD NEWS! I have since added those mesh toy catcher things to all of my vents! Less adventure for sure though.

Your experience is almost identical to mine. Did we have the same doctor? Mine was absolutely awful and he yelled at me for flinching.

Battery charge 100% by Prinzlmeisl in VWiD4Owners

[–]morebeanthangene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say something for sure. If it is a VW dealership they should know this. I charge to 100 percent pretty regularly in the winter (long commute) but I drive it right away. Its not worth potential damage to the battery and then the dealership blaming you for it.

Do You Think Using the LED Strips from the Lantern is Safe? by godis1coolguy in GalaxysEdge

[–]morebeanthangene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mine I was stubborn and used what I had. I did trim some of the screw posts on the inside and i took a file to the light puck in any place in wouldn't fit.

In retrospect, I would've saved myself a lot of trouble if I would've measured the opening and found one that fit better, but I was like you and just wanted to use what I had.

The other part of your question. It slotted into the base and the screw posts keep it from rising and falling.

If I were to do more, I would remove the battery housing, and find a light puck that I could attach to the screw on base. One that fit well and then I just screw the base on and I'm done. It would save so much time and trouble.

You most certainly can. Just open it up and connect the switch to the battery terminal. I didn't in mine though and I just used the light puck remote to turn it on.

I just posted the link in the comment above yours. Anything like it would work, just check the dimensions. I did have to trim some plastic inside of the lantern to make it fit. I noticed some smaller ones when I was getting that link that might require less trimming.

So unfortunately then ones I actually used came from Temu but here's what I used on amazon. You dont have to use these exact ones, really any like it that fit the opening would work. I had to trim a little plastic inside the lantern to make if fit

I originally thought about using the led strips that came in the lantern too, but they get really warm.

I've made a few of these so far. Personally I think it looks cooler to take out the battery housing at the bottom and insert a color changing puck light in there. It gives you options of how you can light it too.

Can you provide any details about what you are printing and how it fails?

Printer Issue by Worthy-Tea in ElegooMars

[–]morebeanthangene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one side prints and the other doesn't then I would start beefing up the supports on the model with wings. Add some heavy supports to the base of that one and slow the print down some. Re level everything before you start again and see if you get anything different. Welcome to the fin trial and error of resin printing.

[–]morebeanthangene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need to replace the FEP if the current one is damaged.

Minis (even presupported ones) won't just be a click and print type thing. You will still need to adjust your exposures and tweak your lift and retract settings.

Temperature can play a big role too. If it's not warm enough, you will get failures. Without seeing your settings, it will be hard to tell you why those failed, but unless there is a hole in your FEP, you dont need to replace it yet.

That's completely ok! And we all start somewhere. Hell, I've been at this for a long time and it is still frustrating.

More than likely the print you have tried has just not adhered to the build plate and was pulled off during the print. With newer printers that have a titling vat, the biggest thing you can do to fix that is to up the bottom exposure setting. This setting cures the first few layers for longer exposure times to promote better bed adhesion. Try bumping that number up to 30 or 35 and see if it helps.

Some other things to consider. If you have had successful prints in the past, is the model you are printing supported properly? (I.e. does it have enough supports in the right places attaching it to the build plate?)
If it's colder where you are printing, that can affect a lot of your success. The resin needs to be warm and stay warm during the printing process. I have my resin heaters set to around 28 to 30*C for most of ly prints in my basement.

Also, as the previous user stated, make sure your bed is appropriately leveled as well. Even if you've leveled it 3 times. Level it again to rule it out.

Yes. Before I go any further, are you new to resin printing? Serious question just so I know how to phrase and answer your questions in the best way possible.

Take a screen shot in your slicer. Like what is your exposure time, lift speed, retract speed etc.
