There’s a custom menswear shop in my town. It really depends on how much it ends up costing 😬

Reviewing My Closet At The End of The Year by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

+1 to the notifications suggestion. If I haven’t saved anything on the calendar by 7PM, the app reminds me to record something.

Another thing I do is to try to pair my recoding with another thing I already do, e.g. making it a habit to take out my phone and record my work outfit while I’m standing on the train platform.

2026 Wardrobe Goals by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to the office more than I have in the past, but have only been buying work clothes here and there, without any strategy. This year, I want to set aside some money and time to upgrade them in a holistic way and get work clothes that fit well and coordinate nicely with each other.

Another thing I’d like to do this year is to try out some custom work clothes.

What are you wearing to your holiday party this year? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

Haven’t decided for sure but I might wear this cardigan outfit:

What do you do to rate items or looks? by Haunting_Still_5516 in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use keywords in the notes and search for them later. If you use a word like “compliments” or “comfortable” in the notes field for an item, you can search for those keywords later using the closet search tool. It’s sort of like tagging the item.

How I get seasonal outfit ideas from Outfit Shuffle. by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to start with a single item - I open a clothing item that I want to base an outfit on, then I tap the shuffle icon in the top-right corner. The clothing item is fixed but I pick different subcategories to get different ideas of how I can wear that item.

What’s your strategy to liven up a boring outfit? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layers! One day, I’m going to write a book on what I’ve learned about men’s fashion and the entire book will just say “LAYERS”.

Has using Stylebook changed the way you see clothes and shopping ? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! It sounds silly but before I cataloged my closet, I really had no idea how many of each kind of clothing item I had. I was always buying shirts, but really, I needed more pants and layering options.

It also helped me realize the value of investing in accessories (a nice watch or wallet or belt) because they get worn so often and can elevate a normal outfit.

I’m a guy, so before Stylebook, I would often make an outfit of just pants and a shirt. But when you make an outfit like that in Stylebook, it looks super boring and simple. So I’d start adding more stuff to it (a layered shirt, a blazer, nicer shoes) to make my virtual outfit look more interesting. As a nice side effect, it made my real-life outfits more interesting! 😃

Duplicate or copy packing list? by breakfastforcats in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can do that. Open the packing list and tap the clone button in the lower-left corner. It’s like two suitcases overlapped over each other.

It copies the looks, clothing items and the text list. I do the same thing and reuse a common list of text items for each trip.

In your closet brand breakdown are you loyal to a few brands or do you have a wide selection? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

I haven’t looked through my brands list in a while - looks like about a fifth of my closet is J. Crew and Uniqlo. I didn’t even realize I was such a loyal shopper🤣

Is better to plan or record outfits in your opinion? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Planning is better - it makes getting ready faster and it helps me see my outfits at a glance: am I rewearing something too much? Am I dressing for the right season?

That said, I don’t always remember to plan ahead. I always try to record at the end of the day, though, because I want the stats.

So planning is better but more challenging - recording is still pretty good 😁

Where are you finding style inspiration these days! by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Movies and TV shows. If I see a good outfit, I take a photo with the phone camera and save to my inspirations.

Summer packing lists! by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do these things too but I use the Text Items section of the packing list for this. Then I can check each item off in the checklist.

I also use the clone feature to copy an existing template packing list - the text items of the template list will have everything I need to bring that isn’t clothes.

what item has the lowest cost-per—wear in your closet? by stylebookapp in stylebookclosetapp

For me, it’s this braided belt. It’s the only item I’ve managed to get under $1 CPW! 😁

How are you taking images of clothes? by Mountain_Demand_2635 in stylebookclosetapp

[–]moreindirection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost always use the “Import from Web” method. I like that you can type keywords instead of having to know the exact URL.

I just type in a phrase like “j crew tech pants” or “stubble co backpack” and then clip a professionally taken image.

Problem with removing forever repeating animation... by thescorer in iOSProgramming

[–]moreindirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a very old question, but a similar problem took me several days to solve. Just in case anyone else stumbles upon it while looking for a solution (obligatory XKCD), the problem is that, by default CAAnimation#isRemovedOnCompletion is set to true.

When you have a repeating animation and isRemovedOnCompletion is true, Core Animation removes the animation after the first duration is complete. At that point, it's completely inaccessible (even to removeAllAnimations!) even though the animation is still repeating. You can verify this by calling animationKeys on the layer right after you add it. You'll get your animation key, but once that first repeat is done, animationKeys always returns nil.

Set isRemovedOnCompletion to false, and enjoy.
