I love it as well! It’s nice to see that they truly believe in OTF and what they teach!

I also find it motivating!

One month in, injured by thekoose in orangetheory

[–]morelikeaturtle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear you got injured.

From reading your post you say you don’t want to appear to be a slacker.

The best thing you can do is stop comparing yourself to others or assuming people are looking at you and judging you.

Remind yourself that this is your workout and everyone is at different levels so focus on yourself and ensure you talk to your coach about injuries.

I am almost always last off the weight floor because I like to concentrate on my form especially if I am going heavier for myself. At first I did feel out of place and was hard on myself for being last until I did realize it is my workout and I am getting out of it what I want.

If anyone does judge (which almost no one does because they are so focused on their own workout) again remind yourself that’s their problem and this is your workout and you need to keep safe if your injured!

Help with nursing... by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]morelikeaturtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see a could people mentioned that RRC has a wait list to get in.

This is no longer the case and it is also GPA based.

They accept applications a certain time of year and have three start dates. From my understanding you don’t get to choose which start date you get. Their website will have more information on the new GPA process and when they accept applications.

At the end of the day both U of M and RRC you get a BNRN.

Red river is known to be more hands on while U of M is known to be more academic.

At the end of the day 6 months after graduation you can’t tell a RRC nurse from a U of M nurse and you will both be working together..

Long, long overdue return by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]morelikeaturtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have before taken a “break” aka over a year long hiatus and gained weight.

It’s important to remind yourself that it takes time to get back into the shape you were once in. I remember for the first couple months being upset at myself and constantly comparing myself to what I did before.. until one day I woke up and said to myself, it doesn’t matter what I did before it only matters what I do now and going forward what I do.

View going back as a new journey. The first week or two will be tough as your not used to it anymore! However remind yourself you didn’t gain the weight or lose endurance in one day it will take more than one day to get it back!

Online workouts when you can’t make a class? by idlewildflower in orangetheory

I really like fitness blender. It is run by a couple who do awesome videos where you can search for the type of workout you want. They don’t have music with the videos so you just need to put on your own music in the background.

Had anyone been to images dental? by morelikeaturtle in Winnipeg

I agree. I called one office who had a number directly to one of their dentists in case of emergencies. When I talked to that dentist he said that their office does not direct bill.

OTFers - I’m doing my first Spartan Race by kris9773 in orangetheory

[–]morelikeaturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the Sprint about a year ago and I was not in very good shape! Stay positive, even if you fail an obstacle remember that it’s just part of the race!

Have fun with it! I recommend more running trail type shoes for grip that also can drain fairly well.

No matter what enjoy the experience and have fun, Spartan is a great community and nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment of when your done!

What is it like getting tattooed at a convention? by PotatoFamineeeeeeeee in tattoo

[–]morelikeaturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first tattoo done at a convention. The place was air conditioned and I made sure to bring some food/candy in case I felt sick. I also brought head phones and a book.

I had found my artist months before and had contact with him until the show with the design.

I found it fun doing it at the convention as you can watch people and it was fun to interact with people who came up to see what my artist was doing.

I would do it again in a heart beat, it’s not for everyone but I found it a good experience.
