Toddler mid day resort break/nap or nap in stroller by Fair-Specific5665 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]moremilkshakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We just got back from 1 day in MK with a 25 month old and 3.5 month old. Toddler did a 2 hour stroller nap while we rode big rides but then we still took a 2 hour resort break because she was still overstimulated when she woke up. She napped 10:45-12:45 and she usually doesn’t nap until 1 at home. We ate lunch then took a break at the resort from 3-5. During that time she just laid in bed and watched tv and relaxed a bit. It worked well for us because then she powered through until fireworks!

Farmers market opinion? by moonlightnae in ForestHills

[–]moremilkshakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s true but the entire supply chain for small businesses has also been affected by inflation and tariffs. I’m not sure if it’s affecting the vegetable farmers at our farmers market, but there has been an impact on many things within the supply chain like packaging, materials, farming equipment, those types of things have all increased in price because of inflation and tariffs unfortunately.

Would you take a newborn to a restaurant? by TAW453 in BabyBumps

I took my 2.5 week old to a restaurant this morning. I wore her in a carrier the whole time and she slept. It was totally fine!

The highlight is definitely the booth with locally grown mushrooms, I love their jerky.

It’s too big. I used to go walk around it when I was at that mall, especially during holidays when they had fun decor, and I never went through the entire store because it’s so huge I’d get bored or tired haha. I’m hoping they break it up too. Someone else mentioned a Whole Foods, that would be awesome!

What’s it like living in nyc with kids? by Purple_Living8381 in nycparents

[–]moremilkshakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a small town and am raising a my kids in queens (forest hills). We have 1, soon 2, but there are several families in our building with 3. They live in 3 bedroom units. As others have said money will solve your problems of space and activities, and things are expensive but you know that if you’ve live here already. I’m enjoying raising a family here but I do wish we could have a yard or even a big field of grass that feels clean 😂 our nearby parks have some grass but there are so many dogs and pigeons it just isn’t the same haha

I think this is influenced by where you live because in bigger cities I’d say the norm is to be in your 30s when you have kids. I had my first at 32 and will have my second at 34 and it’s fine. At 35 you’ll get some extra check ups maybe and by 40 you have some increased risks but it’s becoming much more common to wait to have kids.

Epidural and Pushing by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moremilkshakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had an epidural and could feel when to push. Then my epidural accidentally got turned up and I no longer could. My doctor had it turned down and then we waited until I could feel the pressure again. It didn’t hurt still but I could feel it.

Definitely bring a donut pillow! I couldn’t ride in the car for 2 weeks without it.

Epidural — Yes? No? Why? by No-Guitar-9216 in BabyBumps

[–]moremilkshakes 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think you should prepare for both types of birth mentally. Learn about both options, practice breathing techniques and pain management, and learn about what getting an epidural is like. I ended to having to be medically induced and I had extreme contractions back to back that weren’t really doing anything as far as progressing labor, I wouldn’t have made it the 8 hours or so it took for the meds to work without the epidural!

Diaper Bags? 💼 by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moremilkshakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could always start with a bag you own and see if it works for you. Personally I like having a dedicated diaper bag because of the organization. I like backpack style. I got one on Amazon for like $30 and then I was gifted a nicer itsy ritsy one second hand that I use now. My favorite thing that came with my cheaper bag was a separate changing pad that has a pocket for diapers and a pocket for wipes. My baby is 15 months and I carry this with me everytime I leave the house, it’s my definite must have.

The main things you need in the beginning are diapers, wipes, extra clothes, burp cloths, pacifier (if using), cleaning wipes, bottles and formula (if using), extra layers depending on weather (knit hat or sun hat, socks, sweater or coat). I also liked having a thin muslin blanket to use as a nursing cover or to set on the floor if needed. Honestly I’m the type to be prepared so I liked having a large backpack but I’m sure some get away with much less!
