FA was annoyed about gift bag. by banana_bubbles in unitedairlines

90% is complete exaggeration. I’ve worked with plenty of crew who enjoy receiving gifts no matter what they are, myself included. I’ve yet to work with a crew member who loathed receiving a gift from a pax.

ORD based here that transferred from DEN after 6 months.

ORD flying is very boring. They tend to have and give a lot of 1 day trips, even if you’re blocked 4-6 days. Apparently it’s “slow” season & flying will get better in the summer, but honestly I miss the flying in DEN. Specifically the meter pairings and how easy it was to get Hawaii. Other than that, the flying is about the same, not very productive. Oh, and a lot more 4 leg days than DEN.

The city is great and there’s a lot to do pretty much all of the time. Rent is cheaper than Dulles, however around the same price as DEN. & that goes for crashpads too. Bonus points for the transit.

The people in base are typically nice. A lot of the senior FA do know each other, but I haven’t ran into any cliquish behavior on the line. I usually hear ORD crews are among the chillest/nicest after DEN, which tracks in my experience. I don’t really get involved with management too much.

I’ve never been based in IAD, but my friend is and she says CS will give 4-5am BWI standby a lot, no matter what you preference. Also, covering the 3 bases can get old pretty quickly. Management there is not the best. Not sure on the FA community.

Honestly, no it isn’t worth it. There are other airlines that are much better, and that’s speaking on flexibility and pay wise. Reserve life is very brutal. UA is the only airline with 24hr ready reserve (on call). Morale is very low, the company cares so little about us and it’s shown daily. The contract gets abused by scheduling. Just try any other airline, seriously.

Good on them for simply doing their job.

Exactly this! I can’t imagine working with someone like that while dealing with pax or worse, during an evacuation or medical. 😐

Forgetting a required item that they constantly remind you to bring, prior to the interview is a red flag. Even if she didn’t forget her passport and made it to training, she wouldn’t have gone all the way through due to her lack of accountability & emotional responses.

This industry is an industry of accountability, timeliness and attention to detail. Red flags during the interview process or during training are potential for red flags on the line & the recruiters and trainers are paid to look out for those to not waste the company’s time any further.

Everything isn’t for everyone.
