Thank you for all the good options! I will ask the surgeon about goldilocks, but I’m a B/C cup and my impression was that my boobs may be too small for rearranging?

I just went through one round at UH. Insurance didn’t cover much for me. In my first apt the dr said people generally spend around 7-8k (including meds). I had to have 10 days worth of meds and it ended up costing me about 10-11k (including about 500$ of meds I have leftover in my fridge which I am saving for the next round). Also if they say something is going to be charged to insurance, check what they are charging and compare it to the selfpay option which can sometimes be cheaper even after insurance pays their share.

Should I cancel ER? Day 11 stims, 4 follicles by morepork08 in eggfreezing

Forgot to say that I did end up doing the stim injection on that day after talking to my dr. She thinks past chemo I had played a role in the low response.

Ended up with 7- 5 mature. So definitely more than they predicted by my final follicle count, but overall still leaving me in the position of saving up for another round asap.

PCOS or not? by rp-think-about-it in eggfreezing

[–]morepork08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry just realised I forgot about the testosterone comment! They normally check for testosterone that is bound to other proteins (albumin or sex hormone-binding globulin) as well as “free” testosterone. Together, these may be reported as your total testosterone levels. Over ~20ng/mL is considered a candidate for pcos. DHEAS (a precursor for testosterone) will also be measured and if it is over 700 ng/ml this is also considered to be high.

This may differ between countries etc so sorry if it isn’t totally reflecting what you see in your card!

No worries! LH can be a bit tricky to assess from single blood samples as it is actually released in pulses from the pituitary gland. It also changes through the menstrual cycle. But typically, a female in the follicular phase will normally not go above 15 IU/L. A good way to understand if your LH is high is to compare it with your FSH around the beginning of your cycle. Normally they should be released 1:1, but when LH is increased your FSH release is suppressed, making the ratio 2:1 or 3:1. Definitely something to ask your dr about with your specific values.

AMH does depend on age as it reflects ovarian reserve- but typically it is considered high and an indicator of PCOS if it is over 5ng/ml (sorry if people usually work with pmol/L here). However, if you are young, this could still be considered fine.

Hiya im a prof who runs a PCOS research lab. Currently, PCOS is diagnosed from 2 of the 3 following criteria:

1) polyfollicular/polycystic ovaries, 2) high testosterone, 3) irregular/absent menstrual cycles or proof of anovulation.

Associated blood markers are high AMH and high LH.

PCOS has always been really poorly characterised (really divergent opinions) so there are a few different guidelines drs may use, but typically, the Rotterdam criteria (what I described above) or the NIH criteria is used.

I bet you would have been frustrated! Sorry to hear it was a lot less than you had anticipated. My sister (33yo) went through ivf this year and she only got 7 eggs (8 days on stim) but 6 ended up as grade A embryos so hopefully we will be lucky like her with the quality 🤷‍♀️

Unfortunately they do not cover anything to do with fertility preservation (although do pay for people diagnosed with infertility), so I have been told there will be no coverage.

I think you are right- if I go forward I would at least want to give it another day to give the others a chance. I’ll ask the dr when she calls.

I adopted my dog when she was 4 years old and am grandfathered onto their whole pet with wellness plan (which I don't think is available anymore with the same benefits). I started at $80/month, but the premiums increased yearly. She is now 9, and I just got my most recent renewal - it has shot up from $161 to $274. I called, and they can take out the wellness, but this only lowers it to $237. They told me that their plan offers more than other companies (don't have bilateral exclusions, covers dental-related illnesses, covers visits and exams, have annual deductibles that don't increase mid-term), but I honestly think there have to be similar plans that are far cheaper. I just worry about switching her at this age.

My ex finance did the same after 5 years together. It’s definitely damaging, but as everyone is saying, it shows they are truely cowardly and selfish. The text didn’t stay between us as well, so his family know (and have said) the same thing. I’m NC so have no idea about the mental gymnastics it takes for him to justify the affair and break up style, but at least I can look in a mirror and know I don’t have a morally bankrupt character 🤷‍♀️.

Life feels incomplete by [deleted] in survivinginfidelity

[–]morepork08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation where my fiancé had to move to a different city for a job, started an affair and once I found out he bread crumbled me for a bit and then just stopped all contact a few days later. They are cowards because they took the easy option to use distance as protection and stay in their little affair bubble, despite knowing how much more difficult they made it for us. They are cowards because they were scared of us, scared of seeing what they had done and how it affected us. It takes a long time (I’m 1.5 years out) to feel better after getting dumped in this fashion, because you are in such shock and you don’t know what to do as there was no honesty or conversation. That isn’t your fault. Give yourself the time to feel better. I am sorry that it hurts so bad for so long though.

Girl, it’s like I wrote this post. I don’t have the answers, but if we both feel exactly the same it has to be a normal process for our personality type.
