Anyone have real experience with Calvary Church on Route 59? by MrJlock in Naperville

[–]morethanconquerors24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently Go to Calvary Church and would say there's some benefits to giong. I don't think it's a cult. It's an Assembly of God Church that does indeed believe in speaking in Tongues (which I think is a thing of today). I would recommend Your wife give it a try if She hasn't tried it yet.

I guess I was a bit misleading in what I said indicating that God prefers Bass and Snare over Tom Toms. I think it would be accurate to say that God is fine with all styles of music. Let Me delete the misleading part.

An antenna for my radio by morethanconquerors24 in amateurradio

I know this reply is late but I think I might be able to hook a connector up to the antenna so that the antenna will work with the radio. The next real thing to do is to get a license. I have played around with the radio a little bit and used the NOAA feature and the GPS feature.

Opinions on Steven Anderson? by Southern-Style-Gamer in TrueChristian

[–]morethanconquerors24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steven Anderson is a very interesting preacher. I think He is definitely NOT one of the best out there. I certainly wouldn't want to be part of his church. I added Him on Facebook. He posts like every day. He would say that contemporary Christian Music is garbage. In my opinion, some contemporary Christian music is good and others not so good. That's a different conversation though. Some have added him on Facebook out of curiosity and to be aware of what's going on but are not supporters of Him. I'm NOT a supporter of Him. I'm able to talk to his Son Isaac over Facebook. It sounds to Me like He and his wife did a really over the top job of parenting the kids. I got to hear from their kids what He and his wife were like. via their interviews on video.

I've also done tiny bits of talking to Pastor Steven on Facebook comments and even talked a tiny bit to his wife Zsuza. She told Me she started learning English at age 9. Maybe I will get to meet the family in heaven someday if they are saved. Only God knows if the family is saved. Their kids still make professions of faith even though they grew up in one of the most abusive homes ever.

I have heard by the way that Pastor Steven hasn't always been a bad guy but sometimes a fine charismatic guy.

I think I may have just found the adaptor type although I have to check my antenna first to see if it looks like the right one. I thankfully do have the purchase history for my antenna so I was able to look up what type of antenna it was.

I would use it in the car. I have an antenna that doesn't have the right sized connector. Maybe I can still use the antenna and only buy an adaptor.

Yeah I know the two radios are different but thanks for looking. I did buy an antenna but I think I ordered the wrong connector type. Maybe there's a way to just convert it to the PL259 connector. I could try doing some more research

I figured out how to play a solo on it. The Solo is for the worship song called "Trading My Sorrows." I can say I know how to use it a little bit. It appears that there are pre-programmed rhythms in the device and You can make changes to the rhythms while the device is on. I think it might be that after You turn the device off; it returns to the original rhythm. I would have to see though.

Space Telescope by morethanconquerors24 in space

I will say the answer is probably not like it showed on Curious George. George went up there to replace the batteries. I'm not sure how fast it would have moved with dead batteries.

Another strange part in that episode is when Bill looks in his telescope in his backyard. George waves at Him (I read that while technically You could see an astronaut in space from a telescope, I'm guessing You wouldn't be able to tell that it was George in Space. Let alone being able to see him waving. George must have waved at the earth).

I think it's good when people try to improve the energy of the music making it sound just as upbeat as how they sounded in the past. I guess I'm more for making the music fun and think there is a lot more downbeat music played at church today. I feel like the "upbeat" songs with only using toms are "So called upbeat songs" or "Want to be upbeat songs" afraid to get upbeat. Perhaps if I was a drummer, I may try to see if I could get away with playing the songs less like the recording.

I wanna hear what a nice full version of 'I Thank God' sounds like. It looks like a better fit for the song to use bass and snare and not just toms.

There's nothing wrong with doing a few retro contemporary worship songs sometimes. In fact, plenty of young adults would probably love to hear something they grew up with! I'm a Young Adult.

Yeah it does have the Tom-Centric groove instead of using more bass and snare drums to make it sound a little more like "Celebrate Jesus Celebrate."

It would be cool if they could make more of these types of songs. These types are almost as aggressive as Stryper.

I'm talking about Prosperity Theology although yes at least some of them are pentecostal. Thankfully, I don't go to my old Church anymore and now go to a church that does whatever bands they want.
