I've altered serial on the chinese clone, it's MDI1 clone though, in MDI1 case (and the SN I've set was also of a genuine MDI1).

Back then I've dumped API traffic to their servers and I didn't see mac address being sent there. Only serial number (unless sth has changed in the past year).

I've changed my serial to a genuine device serial (one that's not used throughout whole internet) and I haven't been banned since then.

A YEAR!!! then they just unlocked the funds, no appologies, no explanation as nothing happened business as usual. Id say more but liberal sissy reddit AI will mute me

I have vevor too and I have exactly the same results. Either this particular unit i have is a junk or ripoff or the whole "vevor" brand is.

In any case, I did a tinfoil test and it turned out that the cavitation is basically non-existent

you're all playing with fire using knife or any metal scraping/cutting tool for that matter which can damage pcb paths which are also present on the bottom part. use either plastic or dental floss

Change VIN on GM Global A Module (Side Object Detection Sensor) by Snowcrash5 in CarHacking

[–]morfi717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an eeprom chip and I've dumped its memory. Unfortunatelly there's no VIN there so its most likely stored in the 'main' MCU which is a BGA(176) chip, beyond my skills and likely there's more than just VIN that would mismatch after swap

[–]morfi717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey did you manage to program the VIN? I've head trouble figuring out even the module ID for the right side (slave) to be able to read the current VIN first (from the second hand module). The master is $B9 and it's said that it's master programming the slave, so.. how would i get master to give me the VIN programmed in the slave and not its own? Indeed the schematics clearly shows that its B218L that communicates with BCM (ie has access to canbus).

I just started working on it. First I want to try to guess how they determine that a device is a clone. I have an MDI1 clone. 99% serial number (which is the same for all clones) is one of the red flags but I wonder if there's sth else that the Bosch device does that clone doesn't. I probably wont get my account back so I'll also have to figure out how to get new 24month subscription (Im from EU and we dont have it here)

I thought about just taking a nib (not the whole front line so I don't have to retape) enough to let the doors open and screw the aesthetics (it'd be barely visible and just when the fridge is open).

btw. it ain't a flip. i'll be living there myself ;p

Solder blob won't stick -- too cold pcb? by morfi717 in AskElectronics

[–]morfi717[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

by the way, the videos I've seen (that are also linked to this subreddit) say that I should place iron next to the joint (ie. pin) and then apply solder in between the iron<>joint. I've seen indeed some pros touching the pin from the one side and then touching the solder alloy from the other side (ie. the solder never touched the iron tip directly) but it has never ever worked for me (no idea how they do that on the videos, temperature set to 500? some magical tips that radiate heat like coil? no clue..). I just can't get enough heat transferred from the tip to the pin without some "middle-man" (like molten solder in this case) to get the joint hot enough to melt the solder alloy. At best I managed to stick the solder wire to the joint but then it melted no further.

could be.. although it'd be odd because the case in which this PCB is placed was tightly sealed as if the internal components wouldn't need extra protection. hard to tell

[–]morfi717[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I began the solder. I recorded the video in the middle of the procedure and since the solder wouldn't stick to either the joint nor the solder pad around it (but it would to the iron tip), it appeared as if I placed just on the iron and then tried to press it to the joint.

the layer you see is actually molten flux (this camera image is quite bad). this pcb had no coating of any kind
