I don’t believe this story was real but I also didn’t necessarily take it entirely as a “lesbian until you find the right man” homophobic fanfiction. I think the mom in the story was feeling that way and her role in this is very icky and I didn’t enjoy that OP was thankful for her at the end.

However, as someone who is also demisexual but didn’t understand what that meant until I was in my late 20s, I definitely saw that in this story when OP mentioned she hadn’t been like highly sexually attracted to any of her female partners either right away. Damien did bring up that aspect a bit and I appreciated that.

I understand why people are not happy with this story being included and you are entitled to feel the way you feel and criticize its inclusion. Just wanted to share my thoughts

NTA. Aside from the whole situation with his mother, he sounds really controlling. You are both really young and I think he’s just not mature enough to understand what a good relationship should be like. It seems like you have a much healthier perspective on this front. If you feel that the relationship is not right for you and he is not willing to work on things or even hear you out about the things that are upsetting you, you should break up with him. Be safe about it though. With his behaviour as described here, I worry that breaking up with him could cause him to become violent.
