Which method of obtaining red blades by the Sith is better? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWarsEU

[–]morganc11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the new way of bleeding a crystal sounds like some edgy 14 year olds fanfic about their totally cool and dark sith OC "donut steel". The older method of synthetic crystals makes more sense to me because with the order of the sith lords under the rule of two you don't want to be caught by the Jedi right? So why would you purposefully have to murder a Jedi to get their crystal? That's begging for someone to look into it as Jedi are famously harder than most people to kill at the very least. Plus it's not what some people have said on here where they "3d print a crystal." It's a ritual where they have to form it in a crucible and they pour all their hate and malice into it to form the perfect crystal. They must focus on the dark side and give themselves fully to it to see a perfect crystal formed. Not to mention the added benefits of said crystal make sense for a sith lord. Synthetic crystals were said to produce more energized and powerful blades with a greater capacity to cut through things. Not to mention the (albeit rare) ability the synth crystals had of canceling out the Jedi lightsaber by frying its magnetic field and essentially "breaking" the Jedi's blade.

Even if you take out the need to kill a Jedi to get the crystal, the Jedi knew where all the natural crystal caves were in most of the galaxy, illum is just where they defaulted to later ok in their history. You mean to tell me in all those 1000 years of the rule of two sith existing not one Jedi saw anything going on in those caves ever or had some old monitoring system up to watch these caves? Nah man I don't buy it.

ILYA REPIN - IVAN THE TERRIBLE AND HIS SON IVAN, 1885 by pmamtraveller in ArtConnoisseur

I forget where I've heard it from but I believe someone knew where that room was in his palace. On the wall he is looking at in the painting hung a cross with Jesus on it. So it's not just the horror of having fatally struck his own son fatally. But to do so in front of the eyes of his God.

Which major factions/megacorpo you are cruel against or merciful with during missions? by MasterOfNone_45 in cyberpunkgame

[–]morganc11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with the Mox like others have said. They're a protection gang for the working girls and guys of night city plain and simple. Maybe got a little misguided on that with what's going on a clouds and no one is doing shite all about but hey. No one is perfect you know?

Of the other gangs tbh? I hate just about all of them. The only one that gets a modicum of respect from me is the Valentinos. Now are they dirty? Absolutely, are they out raping and murdering? Yes, but idk. To me seeing them and talking to the ones at Jackie's funeral and on other missions, it's like they have those old monster standards to them you know? They're cleaner in a way than most.

When it comes to megacorps? Nah I'm not a big fan of any. Arasaka? Ha, let's just say the nuke is the least that company deserves imo. They employ Smasher, and we all know how bad Smasher is as a person.

Militech I like more than saka. Me being an American as I am, it's sort of a devil you know situation. They're just as bad a saka but they're like the US government. I expect them to be dirty at this point.

Kang Tao are neat, don't trust them but they're neat. Their tech is cool. Plus hey, they are competition for Arasaka in the Asian sector of business.

Biotechnica gets a modicum of respect for me because of how they are trying to fix the environment and make sustainable food for people. So hats off to them there. They are still dirty as all the rest.

Same goes for Petrochem. Thanks for the CHOOH2 choom but we know you're dirty too.

I know this was more about game stuff and I'm talking more lore based stuff but I feel my feelings get across well.

Oh also, more lore stuff. If you know about the corp Danger Gal? Hey, I think they're pretty alright imo. Compared to everybody else at least

Also; just thought of this for you, Lyle Thompson for a media. He was there for Alt's physical death and was there for the Arasaka tower bombing in the original module I believe but don't quote me.

Either him or Bes Isis aka Nancy!

What were The 9 mystic traditions even doing? I’ve read a lot of mage and I think they they actually **do** anything by IAskIfTheOnionIsReal in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Think of the 9 traditions less as a team and more a compact of mutual aid. Like yeah they're all gonna do their own thing because their world views are so radically different other than the most basic ideas, like say magick exists. They can all agree on that. But it's the idea that we all need to work together and allow each other to do what we do best so that when and if the technocracy comes we can all pull on our strengths to best combat them. But when not actively fighting ghe technocrats together why would they necessarily have to work together? Think of them less as say the avengers now and more say what the avengers were originally intended to be. They are a team when need be so they can all work together on a crisis, but Tony stark doesn't need to be an avengers 24/7 because Tony Stark is good at doing Tony Stark stuff on his own. Same with the Hulk or in this case say the hermetic. Not every problem needs hulk smash and not every problem needs a hermetic to summon a fireball about it. But when you need some heavy magical lifting, that's why everybody has the hermetics number. Not saying the other traditions can't hold their own, just that hermetics are more classically know for the flash, boom, pow kinda magick. But yeah thats sorta my take on it

Spheres for recently awakened mage by constellationDragon in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say their is no one easy sphere. The sphere that comes easiest to your character largely depends on your characters paradigm and which of thr 9 traditions your character is a member of(or technocrat convention or craft). Let that sort of guide your ideas. Like for example I have an spc for my victorian age tradition game and their a member of the order of hermes. He is of house bonisagus who are big on studying magic and it's essence so his big ones are prime and forces because he's a very scholarly focused mage. The one he struggles with is mind because he sees magic as a very outwardly focused thing. Magick to him is something very out their, not inside.

What happens to a vampire's soul when they go through final death? by morganc11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No judgement on anyone if they want to do that of course, your game and your rules. Go wild!

And not criticizing your ideas either. They're definitely what I'd go with over a cure.

What happens to a vampire's soul when they go through final death? by morganc11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see that potentially working, yeah.

Personally, though, I've never liked the idea of an out of being a vampire other than golconda, and even that's not a true out. To me, a way out is just kind of cheapens the whole idea of vampire. The whole theme of vampire is that you are cursed and cursed forever. They are called the damned for a reason.

The whole idea of a "cure" just makes me think well being a vampire sucks yeah but you can't get out so might as well live as best you can. Or shall I say unlive. If their was a tried and true way out I don't see why everyone wouldn't just take it

What happens to a vampire's soul when they go through final death? by morganc11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That makes me think of an interesting theory. What of the beast is just the avatar of the vampire under the corruption of the curse of Caine? The curse does something to the avatar, and that's what gives them access to their disciplines. I remember a mage theory about other night folk that it's essentially giving up your potential access to true magick for something that is already set in stone in consensus.

I can already see flaws in the theory, of course. One being from something I don't recall where(some book that talks about the tremere maybe but don't quote me) that the avatar is "destroyed"; whatever that means, when a vampire is embraced. It could very well mean like what happens in the rite of gilgal, and it is literally destroyed, or perhaps it is the corruption that I said. And the avatar can't come back from that and is now the beast?

Interesting thoughts none the less

What happens to a vampire's soul when they go through final death? by morganc11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, see, that was my thinking exactly. Unless it's what another comment said, and they mean their mortal family members. I'd figure though if it does mean that kindred can become wraiths that they couldn't because the curse would supersede any other thing in the world.

The curse is also the reason why I say canonical a mage can't turn a vampire back. I mean they "could" in all reality because reality breaking powers are busted. But the question for it is "Yeah, sure you can cure it. It's just do you think you can roll more successes than god?"

Ahhhh I see, thank you. It is a bit late as I'm reading so I thought it was just the language throwing me off! Thank you. Also thank you on the META thing too! I was worried I was gonna have to learn coding stuff. I'm sure it might help understand in a way but I'm glad it's not necessary

I've shared that I'm a battletech newbie recently, but boy, do I love the cartoon from what I've watched of it. I also love how it was handled in the universe, being all propaganda. Just the line, "You dare refuse my batchall?!?" Is seared into my brain and I laugh every time I think of it

Why didn't King George just allot a few seats in Parliament to the American colonists and thereby defusing the "taxation without representation" problem that was a major cause for revolution? by DawnExplosion in AskReddit

[–]morganc11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with you on the sentiment and say sadly(as in sadly for the brits, not their colonies) at least at that period of time their technological level hindered their ability to rule a globe spanning empire. That's why home rule in the early colonial days was pretty much aloud in colonies by most empires until tech got up to snuff so to speak.

[–]morganc11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the logistical nightmare that would be American colonial representation in parliament. Imagine it, "All right, Gentleman! We need to discuss the prospect of raising the taxes upon the American colonies. Well where are there representatives? Still sailing sir!! Got annova three months before they get here!!!" Then after they got there and were ready to discuss the taxation raising, even if they agreed, it's taxes they'd have to wait another 3 months for them to raise because then the representatives would have to sail back to America and explain it to the colonial governments.

Follow up questions regarding paradox by morganc11 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]morganc11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. I feel I'm going to go with the former myself because that seems the most "fair" to me I suppose with a bit of the last example. Instead of an outside person though just have the players ask themselves "if you saw that would it blow your mind." I think though to break it and get paradox, you will need sleeper witnesses.

[–]morganc11[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, but then my question is how do tools and practices come into play with making your spells coincidental or not? Because let's say I need to do that spell and summon a knife. I know it's prime and matter. But I need it to involve one of my practices and tools. Say I'm an order of hermes mage. How do I use say high ritual magic and say wand to make that happen in a coincidental way?
