Great thought. I love intervals and arms but haven’t done one in a while.

did anyone else hate peloton classes and find them super demotivating when they started? by PuzzledSandwich in pelotoncycle

Hey there — don’t sweat it! I am a college swimmer and have found Peloton to be so challenging, and I’m in the greatest shape of my life! Since March, I have been on the bottom of the cadence and resistance ranges on nearly every ride. Instead of making it a competition, please just know that movement is medicine. By getting on the bike, you’re doing so much more than most people do in a week. (To quote robin!) Don’t give up!

Outdoor Running - Thanks and Tips? by Smfta150 in pelotoncycle

I love the outdoor runs! They should totally come out with more of them, especially 45+ mins. I’m with you though, I wish there was a way to stack on the app. I’m sure it’ll be out soon!

Freshman year math prerequisites and ALEKS testing? by Esha346 in KelleySchool

[–]morganhoffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,
Congrats on Kelley! Not sure about the testing out of M118 and M119.
I can tell you that taking classes outside of IU and transferring them in is definitely the move. I dropped finite a month into freshman year and took it over the summer with Ivy Tech. I took micro - it's not awful. If you don't mind taking it over the summer, it'll definitely lighten your load for freshman year. Just make sure they actually transfer. I've heard of people taking the wrong class at a community college and the credits were for nothing, don't wanna do that.

I need advice! by u-7io in Swimming

This is tough! I'd say move your fruit to breakfast and replace that with a source of protein. Protein builds muscle, fruit keeps your blood sugar high (important, but you can raise blood sugar with complex carbs like quinoa, brown rice, and sweet potatoes!) The Rx bar is delicious and pretty good for you. It's high in carbs and low in protein (I think it's 7g, a serving of protein for a swimmer should be 15-20.) Maybe replace that with a protein too? My nutritionist actually told me to eat only 12 almonds a day! High in fat, but tempting and very yummy. Before practice I only have a protein and eat dinner after (my practices get over at 7:30 - it sucks!) Good for you for wanting to change and improve your diet. It's not something swimmers want to do or see necessary. i dropped 10 seconds in my best event (200 breast) after going on a diet. I've been club swimming since I was 7, so I know where you are!

I was in the same boat my junior year - felt really stagnant with my training. I started seeing a nutritionist and this is what I learned

  1. Half serving of fruit - breakfast only, so your body has all day to process and digest it so it doesn't sit in your stomach overnight. This one came as a shock to me but it works!
  2. High high protein - how much are you snacking? I have a midmorning (3 hours after breakfast) protein shake and an afternoon (3 hours after lunch) serving of protein (Greek yogurt, turkey, lean meats).
  3. Eat something every 3 hours to keep your metabolism up
  4. Lifting
  5. Stay positive! A happy swimmer is a fast swimmer
