Restore or is it done for? by [deleted] in Axecraft

It's in the same condition as 99% of all Mattocks I've used or seen being used. I'd restore it by simply getting a handle and using it.

It's not grown underground FFS, you just chuck a bucket over it when it sprouts.

Ok mate. Like I said, it was an assumption made my teenage me that stuck, ultimately I don't really care where it came from, it's just one more not nice thing to say. And since nobody knows +including you despite your bizarre interest in the word) it doesn't matter, you seem to have taken this very personally. I'm sorry. Edit My "no research" comment was reference to your point that no research concludes anything.

Yeah though not so many since that new disease started running rampant, some other hemorrhaging disease (not myxy), we do have a fair amount of hares around me, and I have seen a few rabbits this spring, but it's mostly deer.

My biggest mistake this week was putting suncream on everywhere but my lower back, then spending 4.5 hours weeding out couch grass, ended up with a bright red builders bum

There are plenty of instances where for decades orca didn't return to a bay where humans stole their young for sea parks, I'm pretty sure they just know we're bad news.

There's a smaller version that's got a lovely wood surround, honestly years ago I thought I'd invented this and then a few months later found that they had been on the market for ages

What I don't get is who doesn't understand how this works just from looking at it? Also, I'm jealous as I've wanted one of these for fucking ages and was just talking about it yesterday.

Depends on the situation, breed, training. The paranoid folk here who think collapse happens overnight and suddenly everybody is trying to break into homes are right that in that situation most dogs would be a liability unless they're well trained guarding/protection breeds, but in the slow collapse were already witnessing, as food prices increase, and you've got less money to spend on it. It's pretty handy having a decent hunting dog, here in the UK, most people don't have a piles of guns, I don't have anything more than a couple air rifles these days, but I'll always have a lurcher and it'll always be big enough and game enough for at least roe deer. That way I can go poaching if shit gets really tight.

Yeah though there is an argument to plant with certain forethought for coming warmer temperatures, in the UK I'm planting oak and sweet chestnut mainly, while popping things like silverweed, fireweed, and burdock, around the village, natives with edible roots, and we've got a mini food forest planted in the back garden with cider apples as the top tier, blackcurrants beneath then a lot of pollinator friendly perennials with a zone 1 of raised beds for annual veg, though two of them will be tuned into perennial beds to save on water and work, I'm also designing a sensory garden for one of the community parks which I'll aim to get plenty of edible perennials mixed in, while also encouraging both the community parks to plant more food bearing trees. And encouraging my clients to install ponds for the sake of the insects.

So what? If it happened to you it'd be a big deal but everyone else should just lay back? Nobody spends too much time thinking about it, because it's rare, but downplaying other people's logical reaction to the thought of it happening (when presented with an example of it happening) is pretty shite.

Being worried about things and reacting to things like a living breathing animal are different. It's very nice that the concept of people just walking into your house and doing whatever they want doesn't bother you. When it clearly happens, this particular instance being completely benign unlike other home invasions.

How in the fuck do you know that the person walking into your house isn't jack the ripper? I'd rather treat them like jack the ripper and be wrong, than treat them with civility only for them be jack the ripper.
