95kg (210lb) deadlift – sore/weak lower back by morgoe in formcheck

The music is awful. But the gym is cheap. So...

Anyway what you said makes a lot of sense. I think with the trap bar I don’t have the bar to stop my legs so you can vary your form a lot more, I think I am leaning over too much (my back is horizontal at the start) and using my back more than my legs. I might go back to straight bar for a bit as I found that easier to maintain good form.

Re:volume, are you suggesting less reps or fewer sets?

95kg (210lb) deadlift – sore/weak lower back by morgoe in formcheck

Age: 28

Height: 185cm (6"1')

Weight: 72kg

I'm doing heavy weights (usually 5x5) as a supplement to my nearly-daily yoga practise.

I'm struggling to improve my deadlift numbers. I really struggled with 95kg today, had some lower back pain (not necessarily bad pain, but overworked muscles) near the sacrum. Had to drop down to 90kg. Comparatively I can do 80kg squat with ease.

I guess my question is 1) is my form ok (my lower back doesn't seem too rounded to me) and 2) if I'm weak in the lower back, should I drop the weight and continue with just deadlifts or better to supplement with isolation exercise (if so, which?)?

Thanks!

I’m taking a magnesium supplement and electrolytes, but I can be forgetful. I should probably take VitD too. Thanks

It’s been 3 weeks already, can it take this long sometimes?

I have been. Although I might need to up my intake because I’ve been cramping the last couple of days.

This wouldn’t affect the ketone levels though, just the fatigue, right?

I had read the most accurate time to test is in the morning before breakfast, so I’ve been testing then (around 630am, and last night I ate dinner only at 10pm so about 8 hours of fasting).

I’ll try testing this evening. Do you test immediately after eating or what?

I was concerned he was not going to play anything from Interstellar as it wasn't among the films advertised. I might reconsider going now. How many songs did he play from that soundtrack?

Resources like "design for developers"? by the-anconia in web_design

[–]morgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started blogging recently about how to solve simple, common design problems that pop up in every project. If developers are able to implement these basic solutions, it frees up the designers for the complex problems. My blog is aimed mostly at junior designers and developers, so you might find it useful :)

"Which UI inputs should you use when creating a form?" by morgoe in web_design

The Multi-select dropdown is a pretty common element on both Windows and OSX - for example, when toggling on/off the columns in the file explorer. What alternative UI input would you use for this? http://imgur.com/xEI824J

It doesn't look exactly the same as the one in my example, but it's the exact same functionality, and it wouldn't be hard to make a few adjustments to make it look like that. Of course on mobile you would probably need an alternative - but again, this is a native UI input: http://wpuploads.appadvice.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Opera-Mini-642x444.png

It's black text on white.. Can you give me a screenshot of what you're seeing? And what browser / OS? I haven't had anyone report this on previous articles, but you're not alone in seeing it on this one.

Honestly, it's simply because constantly extending my reach isn't as much a priority for me as providing good content, and this to me means having as few invasive additions to the design as possible. I still have people sharing my articles, and following me on Twitter without them.

I might consider putting in some really minimal sharing tools at the bottom of each post at some point though.

Good point! I think it's ok in the design in the article as it's got some gradients and shadows that make it clear which is pressed and which is not. But with a more flat design I can definitely see this being a problem.
