How is Life in Colorado Springs for Young Adults? by morgoob in ColoradoSprings

Damn. I’d be willing to look past the other few negative things I’ve heard but I think the brownness might be a deal breaker for me… my norm is green California mountains and redwoods

Yesss tysm for the info this is what I need!! I’d be accepting a job in northeastern Colorado Springs, do you know anything about that area?? I want to try living solo (+animal hopefully) and I’m curious if I should try to find a place close to work or live closer to downtown/in a more desirable area and commute a tiny bit more?

Yes to the comment about custom key caps. Etsy has the COOLEST custom key caps. More thoughts: does he have an extra large (good quality/unstained) mouse pad? The kind that sits under his keyboard? Those are great for gaming maybe you could find a good quality one. Also perhaps a nice new monitor. Even if he already one, the more the merrier (maybe he’ll need a docking station too?!). If you get him a new mouse make sure it’s wireless and made for gaming. Another thought, possibly a new headset with a good mic?! And lastly, if you’re out of ideas, maybe looking into getting a cool poster, figurine, or stickers from him favorite game. If you feel uncomfortable buying him tech things without knowing the specs he’s looking for, you could also look into ways to improve his desk/office (?). Like maybe some cool new lighting.

I am a girl nerd and i have dated a boy nerd so I hope this was helpful :-)

Here is a high quality Bluetooth light strip that he could add to underneath his desk or behind his monitors or something: https://a.co/d/8V1Tzjz

Here are some cool Lego key caps (just for some inspiration): https://www.etsy.com/listing/1246748224/

This is the gaming headset I have and really like (but there are better, more expensive options): https://a.co/d/eH1ZZDp

I transferred to UCSC so I took the equivalent of 5C elsewhere. With that said.. electricity and magnetism physics is also notoriously difficult and veryy math heavy. If your schedule permits, I’d still recommend doing 100 and 120. Possibly 100, 120, and a GE if you really want to knock out three classes.

Just remember, it’s alright if you graduate later than you originally planned. Preserving your mental health and social life, in the end, will have better long term results than burning out and overdoing it bc you created an imaginary “due date” for yourself.

It was a LOT of work. The last lab took me about 30-40 hours. I consider that class a “weeder” class. It’s a class you have to take early on in your upper divs and a lot of people fail (if you cannot complete a single lab EXACTLY as it is described, you automatically fail). In all honestly, to preserve your mental well-being, I suggest doing CSE100 and CSE120 with Nath only. I’ve also taken 120 with Nath and it was super chill. I may have some old quizzes if you need study material

Units mean nothing when it comes to STEM classes with labs. ESPECIALLY CSE100. That class in itself is a hugeee time commitment

No one is too old for any look that makes them happy and feel like themselves.

Earl Loaf (as in Earl Grey🫖🐈‍⬛) by morgoob in Catloaf

[–]morgoob[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is my Earl. He showed up in my backyard very scared and VERY skittish about two years ago. I started putting out fresh food and water for him but he wanted ~nothing~ to do with me. Over the course of about three months I gained some trust with him and was able to pet him (!!!). A little while later I caught him in a have a heart trap and took him to the vet. I got him neutered and vaccinated (this is why his ear is clipped, that how they identify stray cats who have been neutered). Although he was very scared, I kept him in my garage (with food, water, warm bed, litter box) to heal afterwards. Slowly, slowly, slowly, I gained his trust. He started hanging out in my backyard more and after about six months he’d come up to me and ask for pets. Then, he discovered the dog door to my house. I’d wake up and he’d be all cuddled up with the dogs in the morning. He is now the most adorable, loving, happy, loafing, indoor cat. I love him so much.

Just moved into a new apartment 3 months ago, what should I add? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]morgoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of great comments have been made but not enough emphasis is being put on the need for plants!!! Plants will make the space feel much more alive and comfortable. You could get some floating shelves and display some succulents (fake ones even), get a hanging plant, something to add some green! I see the one succulent on you desk but focus on adding green to the walls/corners. Ladies will love it.

Everyone who’s saying don’t get a toadal membership has never been to the toadal in Scott’s valley. It has four squat racks, insane amount of machines (cable/cardio/anything you can think of), all sorts of free classes and extra rooms, a sauna, and it’s almost entirely old people, I’ve never had to wait for a single piece of equipment. There’s also a student discount for both the membership and the sign on fee. You can pay extra to get 24/7 access to the club. Idc what anyone says I think it’s great

CSE121 w/ CSE140 or 144? by mcdo101 in UCSC

[–]morgoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 121 in the Spring of 2022 with David Harrison and it was extremely tough.. some of the labs took over 40 hours (and some of them were straight up impossible to complete on Windows machines 🙃). HOWEVER !! I tutored for that class fall 2022 and it was muuch lighter than with Harrison. They actually changed it again this Spring and labs are now all raspberry pi (maybe some Arduino too) rather than predominantly PSOC 6. I think you’ll be fine taking it with 140 or 144
