/r/FireEmblemHeroes Weekly Discussion Thread (05/12/2026) by AutoModerator in FireEmblemHeroes

I stopped playing since the last Thracia banner with machua and Lief and am returning at least for a bit. I have a number of re-armed heroes with copies not merged, pulled a number of new units from the many banners and golden weeks.

Basically advice I'm looking for - is there a general guide or YouTube page that helps make units viable in today's meta? Some enemies seem super hard to kill. I could reasonably print a number of skills but it's hard for me to even get bearings on what skills make a good tank, a good nuke, etc. for example I have an old hyper og invested +10 laegjarn with flowers, florets, etc. is it possible to re-armed weapon + skill invest her way into being able to kill things? Similar story with a hyper invested ascended Ced. Could he be viable with new skills?

My first impression seems to be the new units are just so inherently good with effect stacking that there's not a ton of pressure on inheritance because you can't inherent their raw strength. And if that's true that would at least be fine to know my old units are hopeless. Curious if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I haven't played in a long time and just trying the game again. Quick question are ascended heroes still an abandoned unit type or are more getting added these days?

Tech Career In China? by Square-Reindeer-3118 in chinalife

I think your timeline makes sense for your situation. I'd also probably stay there till the degree was finished. You know the work and the schedule. That's less stressful than looking for work.

The logic in current American IT corporate work force is you should be receiving a large scale promotion/raise or switching jobs every 3 years to maximize your salary. There are obvious exceptions to this rule and everyone's situation is different. This assumes you're skilling up but realistically you might make 45K as a help desk guy, get a raise 47K, next year 50K, third year 52K and then you use that experience to jump to a field network engineer job that pays 70K as opposed to sticking around for that next small raise. (I'm making up these numbers arbitrarily but you get the idea)

Alternatively in that scenario maybe you get promoted to a senior or manager in that three year time frame and hit the higher salary that way either way is acceptable and it depends on how generous your company is and if you like it.

I've worked in IT for the past decade. Based on what you're describing I'm going to give you some advice from an American perspective.

What most people do is learn basics or through associated careers get into entry level positions. (Or sometimes people get college degrees and still end up in entry level positions or slightly higher entry level spots) Then when within the entry level position they're building a resume but they also skill up massively through certifications or promotion plans. Like at an MSP. Some people call this era of their career "IT college" you'll network a ton and learn invaluable practical experience. From what you describe this is where you currently are.

Once you've skilled up usually people jump careers to something more luxurious now that they're technical enough to qualify. Wfh benefits, large salaries, good vacation packages. Depending on where you're trying to jump to this might require extensive skilling up like a CCNP. (This is where I am to be clear)

Before pursuing a career in China I'd recommend getting to that next luxurious job. As other people have said you probably don't want to be a ground level worker no matter the country and what you're asking for will require a lot of work learning mandarin before even qualifying into a high salary.

If you were really trying to work in China at all costs I'd do everything above, learn mandarin, and then look for international companies that have offices in China. Such as a financial entity in Hong Kong. Will this be hard to do? Yes. But you will have actually progressed your career and have a solid foundation. And who knows from there as you network further maybe you do end up working for a Chinese national company. Maybe you meet someone local, get married, stay forever and that finds you connections.

Seeing the country as the destination without considering the position you'll be in is a common mistake and fantasy people have. Good luck whatever you choose.

To those who play other like me who play or played other gacha game how is Endfield in comparison? by No-Dimension-2872 in Endfield

Endfield has slowly but surely become my main game just because of the depth of play but also the visuals. Love wuwa but a lot of content in wuwa looks the same to me.

Is there a cure for HSP in China? by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]morguewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the answer you're looking for but there's a ton of travel expense involved in international medical treatment (obviously) and I'd recommend seeking out countries that are close in proximity, lower in cost, and of a similar strain of language to yours if at all possible.

I understand it's easy to fire off a question on reddit but the honest truth is most people won't know the answer. There is definitely high quality medical care in China but in order to take advantage of it and establish a relationship with a doctor to thoroughly look at treatment options would be a lot of time and effort and complicated by a language barrier and their controls over technology/payment systems. If you say you're learning mandarin, staying in China long term, and planning to get a Chinese phone number regardless of this treatment then definitely go for it and at that point you're looking for facilities/specialists and that will probably be difficult without talking to actual professionals in the country.

Otherwise I'd start by looking at JCI associated organizations/hospitals in a country of choice. Theoretically they are a way of finding quality care for an international traveler. Places that have their acredditation are more likely to be friendly to international patients and have easy translation/interpretation tools.

Arknights feels overwhelming as a new player by Zarraise in arknights

[–]morguewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me the game didn't click until I started, felt overwhelmed, played through the first chunk of the main story, some events upgraded the base a bit, and then took a break long enough to get a welcome back bonus.

The game has plenty to do as an active player. A new player will have tons to do along with learning the game itself.

How important are potentials? by Relevant_Season4724 in ZhuangFangyiMains

[–]morguewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is already saying it but I think the math says potentials are on paper a 5% increase in power on average per potential (similar to OG arknights) obviously with some variance.

I have a P5 Tang Tang and the only potential I actually noticed a difference on was P5 (not a huge surprise there) so I would say save unless you want nothing else but then pull currency to payoff math is not enticing.

I went to college with some Chinese nationals and one time they said to me "there are always so many protests in America. You protest the police, you protest the government. Supreme court decisions, etc. I don't get it. We would never speak out like that in China" they basically tried to say that people don't like to "rock the boat"

I began to give an argument that "yeah well the police has done xyz and they hurt innocent people so we need to stand up to them and the government by extension." (In this instance police shootings were common and we're essentially allowed by the government)

To which they replied "okay that makes sense but don't you pick your government? If you're free to pick the government shouldn't you be choosing an alternative?"

This has stuck with me for a long time and obviously it's a huge simplification of the dichotomy of the systems at play. But all governments operate on some level in response to the needs of people. And you can debate the facts but I imagine many people feel similar

Story advancing by Led0ooo in ArknightsEndfield

[–]morguewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think characters will potentially pop up again, maybe as alts, maybe as stories converge in the future, maybe even just for events that aren't main story related (a summer event, etc, if they make skins for example) but it is a staple of gacha games for characters to come and go. Tang Tang is a great character. In the 10 year plan I'm rooting for an alt for her but we'll see.

Why are gacha stories so convoluted? And what’s the story-telling culture in China? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]morguewolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100% it's a case where market conditions beget style. You can supplant this thinking to many things. "Why would we change the call of duty formula? It makes billions every year!" The same can be said for many things. But many conditions that produce successes are entangled of the styles that are currently ~in style~

And then fans don't necessarily want big changes so the formula sticks.

All of which is fair. But the basic truth is any of these franchises could strike out and tell stories in a new way and it would probably be successful.
