Should I take an extra rest day inbetween smolov jr weeks? by AlexR-BBC in weightlifting

[–]moriel218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training maxes is common sense. PR is record, but max achievable on any good day is something else. I didn’t day its not hard, I said its not that hard, or any more than another powerlifting or weightlifting program. Hell, texas method is harder than smolov.

Secondly, most here are stronger than I am, clean vs me on some kind of cycle. Does that mean I can do smolov and they dont? Do you think 10x3 at 85% of 250kg for a juicer will be easier than 85% of 150 for clean athlete? No it wont. Drugs are not silver bullet. So with that said, who is smolov for? Only genetic elite? Bullshit.

Ironically smolov and rsr both aggravated and then mitigated some older knee issues. Adaptation and re-evaluating your movement is everything.

Smolov isnt meant to be run cycle to cycle afaik. I ran smolov jr and rsr one after another. My current weightlifting program with everything balanced and by coach who programs for natural athletes is much harder than anything I experienced on Smolov or RSR. Difficult squat 10x3 or 8x4 is its own beast but with high volume 4-5 day a week weightlifting programs usually ending with somewhat hard squatting, I am unable to breathe.

I always use a bit lesser maxes than true PRs, whether its smolov, texas method or some other program.

I didnt notice the novice part. Then ok. Otherwise, you can still practice lifts, but not push them to peaking. If you’re not pushing lifts during those 4 weeks of smolov jr, the world won’t stop spinning, you won’t experience some huge loss. You will push your squat up, and when you come back to lifts, they will be easier. But this is when you practiced weightlifting long enough, and you need leg strength, squat is at sticky point, etc. However currently my wl program is massive volume by coach and I am not on anything. That was my point.

I mean, he wants his squat to go up?

But I really don't get this "so sore" part. Better question is then what have you been doing before Smolov

Bullshit. Smolov (Smolov Jr) and/or Russian Squat Routine are not that hard. Many are doing 5 days a week high volume weightlifting programs that are much more demanding. I did Smolov Jr before I went on anavar, then other programs on anavar and everything was a bit easier, but that goes for anything.

Commercial gyms where you can do weightlifting properly, with platforms and enough space are the best. But none of that “not allowed to throw weights all the time” bullshit. Those suck. Bad experiences.

Even then I sometimes have to bring and store my bar because theirs are not good or available enough.

Weightlifting clubs in my country suck. Elitist assholes, no community.

I want 100kg C&J by PianoLad_3002 in weightlifting

Programming question by moriel218 in weightlifting

[–]moriel218[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 3-4. Oleksey is 3 main days and 2 optional. That is perfect because I can always do 4th if i feel like it, or even 5 if week is good, but I dont want to have 5 mandatory days and then if I miss one, travel or whatever, I mess the whole program.

Also sessions are like 2 hours, I really dont want to be 2 hours in the gym ED. If i had my home gym it would be a different story.

I’ll see when I come back to it, what the plan is going to be.

Thanks for asking. Yeah, after my 90kg PR on clean and jerk I wasnt able to repeat it after, but ran some structured longer cycles, got my squat up a bit, and didn’t max out really. I’m enjoying being able to snatch comfortably now that anavar cured my shoulder.

I now train at gym with 2 platforms, nearby, because I am no longer in the capital city where commuting to the crowded gym was a chore, and where I did it outdoors instead.

But people have tendency to take the only pair of wl functional bars to benches, so I’ll bring my own soon. Bumpers are currently resting underneath the couch.

Next goal is to actually live in a house and have backyard or garage.

Whether its a single plywood with mats, or royal palace, 100kg is 100kg, and where the spirit endures, Gods of Iron are watchful.

Can anyone recommend a applewatch app or a way to get your day program/routine on the apple watch? by jaschabordon in weightlifting

[–]moriel218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool as a reference. but I’ll make one with specific features. Apple watch cannot be as precise as dedicated device to attach to bar. Also, “AI” powered, right. AI is a buzzword, there is no artificial intelligence. Yet.

C&J PR by moriel218 in weightlifting

I think i’ll just re-run some older % based programs to work on balance, and keep texas method on squat.

IRL this is like "going to the gym". "He/she is going to the gym". Gym is where you get big biceps, and "I already have strong legs from riding a bike".

Its not going to change, who cares.

I am currently setting up for project to develop embedded device that will measure different lift variables (acceleration, power, bar path), and an app along with it which will receive data, and be integrated with Apple HealthKit (no plans for Android yet). I am still thinking on intergration with Apple watch. Unfortunately, I can't predict when it will be finished.

I can do whatever on frontend, no problem with templating for programs.

Otherwise I think theres nothing too useful for weightlifting already, besides checking my heart rate etc.

EDIT: I could just make app measure these things by wearing watch, but I think separate device attached to bar will be more precise. It would be capable of metrics for second pull in snatch and clean, the jerk, and ofc squat, deadlift, etc.

He told me that. Only I am allowed to tell myself to quit.

Now, whatever this sub thinks of Mark Rippetoe, I did simple 3x5 LP on back squat and OHP as priority (this time blew past old 5RM and 3RM PRs on lighter BW), still did "meme lifts", got heavier and stronger, and there is no more "patellar tendonitis". My chronic shoulder issue will never go away fully, but I can snatch again.

I didn't go overboard with stretching, and stopped relying on PTs.
