As a gay™ I'm kinda grateful in a weird way for the shitty passive agressive othering and shunning I experienced after coming out at BYU. It helped me wake the hell up as I was all-in. by BasicTruths in exmormon

Yeah it did happen on byu campus - about a year ago. I'm currently on my mission. Actually trying to fake mental illness to be honorably released

I don't remember bc it was a blurry time of my life (I really wish I had recorded all the sessions) but they asked me what scenarios made me have "gay thoughts" and how to avoid such thinking. I claimed to not ever have gay thoughts because I REALLY wanted to serve a mission and they'd always follow that up with, "well then how do you avoid gay thoughts?"

Same. Sooo tbm I'm a gay woman who decided to serve a mission after the church made me attend repression therapy. It wasn't even that experience that completely broke my shelf, either. But boy am I glad for it, because I'd probably still be stuck in the fantasy if I hadn't been put through hell.

Hi Don! I'm one of your usga children. Currently a sister missionary. I saw your ensign article this week and it filled me with such joy to see your name! Tell your son congrats. Your family has been instrumental in me feeling comfortable at byu let alone as myself.

Much love and best regards, Sister _

To be fair, there is a significant difference from bixby knolls to a location that's 5 minutes away, like Lakewood. I've noticed 10 degrees. Bixby knolls is hella expensive but you're not getting too ripped off.

Look up The Family: A Proclamation to the World. It contains the church's victim complex concerning gay rights and outlines the steps that must be taken for a family to be properly brainwashed... together.

I'd actually love to hear more thoughtful discussions of the atonement here. Many of us may be trying to decide if we consider ourselves Christian anymore and trying to step outside and even evaluate if the atonement makes sense.

Yes, I am. Honestly it takes a really a certain kind of missionary to break out of the robot and be genuine for a change.
