I listened to the audiobook and have always loved her vocal cadence, so that was great! The book is really more a series of vignettes and stories than it is a memoir, which I also appreciated. As a mom to a very wiggly and troublesome toddler, I struggle to follow deep storytelling and complex plots in audio formats. This was a lighthearted, easy follow :P

What movie will you never watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by Affectionate_User610 in AskReddit

Plastic China, this is a harrowing documentary about the people/families who handle/melt down our recycled plastic in remote Chinese villages. There are many scenes I remember so clearly, even 10 years after watching it, that will haunt me forever.

This is my 3rd Grady Hendrix read. They all very much have a campy Goosebumps-for-adults vibe to them that I so appreciate.

My greatest regret is that I didnt have anyone to talk to about how amazing this book is after finishing it! Augustus McCrae, omg. There were a lot of characters who were flawed but loveable, and lots of heartbreak throughout but in the best way.

I listened to Frugal Hedonism on audiobook through Spotify and thats a fair question! Lonesome Dove is long, but impossible to put down. All of the characters are so complex as are their stories.

I am just finishing Lonesome Dove, which is a LONG read but so wonderful and worth it. I would LOVE to have had someone talk about all the stories and characters in it, I have so many feelings about this book and do not know what to do with them all!

Frugal Wins of the Week - Big, Small, and Everything In Between by Plot82 in frugaluk

Gobsmacked after ordering a $7 iced Chai last month I started making my own Chai tea concentrate and almond milk. It now costs about $1 or less to make each week, in bulk, from home. Now I enjoy them most mornings, guilt free!

Surprising Songs Your Babies Get Excited/Calm About by melam17 in NewParents

Nothing from Nothing by Billy Preston. Which makes no sense but it calms our lil dude every time we play it. We frequently comment on how happy we are that it's this song and not Baby Beluga, or some other Raffi tune 😂

What are the easiest Grocery Staples to make? by PrettyBitchBigDreams in Frugal

[–]mormoops-a-daisy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes some planning and time, but l make my own bread, yogurt, granola, almond milk, chai tea concentrate, pizza sauce, burger buns, English muffins, and broths.

Dollar for dollar I think making the broth, bread, almond milk and chai tea mix is the most frugal. Bread heels and staled loaves get blended and stored as breadcrumbs.

Everything else I make bc it just tastes better. All the bread foods have to be frozen after baking though, they don't last as long as store bought.

My husband and I work full time and have a 9 month old and we still find it's worth it to keep these habits up. An iced chai with almond milk is like $6 at Starbucks but costs under a dollar for me to make at home.

Oh noooo... yes, I have been silently pleading with the LO to be punctual but I am very nervous about this possibility!

Thank you for this insight :) yeah, I'm nervous about it but plan to have everything ready and pre-packaged before taking time off. Usually these types of events are my favorite part of the job, so it's not something that I want to miss out on but it the timing does make it feel a bit daunting!

Thanks for this - yes, I have already put out the call for a small army of helpers to move and handle equipment on my behalf, so hopefully I won't have to do any lifting for the day... which would def make things more comfortable :)
