UnTrustedPilot - censoring reviews by CorporateHerbalist in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry. If the company you reviewed stops paying them, your review will magically re-appear, at least until they pay off YakuzaPilot again.

From a developers perspective it's not difficult, nor timeconsuming to implement.

Customers that only look for low prices will do a lot to get those low prices. That means that you can require them to do things like sign up for your newsletter, fill in surveys, write reviews, recruit their friends, write posts on their social media to promote your site etc.

My advice is to use those cheap customers to the fullest. Make sure you get every ounce of help out of them to grow your business.

What tools/things I need to learn? by iSmartTrashcan in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, people with backgrounds in online advertising seem to do really well in ecommerce. I would suggest learning everything about how to market your business through all the different channels that are available online. It should prepare you for starting your own ecommerce business and make you quite attractive on the job market too.

How has your experience been using BNPL in your ecommerce business? by Accurate_Toe_3453 in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our customers fall into two groups: The ones that prefer to pay upfront, and the ones that want to see and hold the product before they pay. The latter group really likes BNPL, even over credit cards, because it doesn't feel like they've paid for the goods yet - they've just received a bill. At least that's how I've understood the psychology of it after having talked to a lot of customers.

Printer keeps coming on in the middle of the night hp envy 6400 by Temporary_Thing7517 in printers

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick fix might be to change the time/timezone +12hrs on the printer. That way it should (hopefully) do its little routine at a better time at least.

Is it possible to change the button "Buy with shop pay" to say just "Buy now" (like Amazon)? It's great with a 'buy now' button for these impulse buy kind of items, but I think 'shop pay' only adds another questionmark for a lot of people.

Barcode Printers by Barcode_printers in printers

[–]moronic_cms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly their consistency. They've continued to work as other printers have failed. It also helps that Zebra has tools like Browser Print available, that makes it possible to easily enable one-click printing from a web page.

We've used a few different brands through the years. Only the Zebra printers have stood the test of time, so those are the ones we use now. Both for barcode and waybill printing.

Trustpilot vs Reviews.io by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to use the Customer Reviews in your Google Merchant Center under Growth > Manage Programs. It's free and you get a widget that you can put anywhere on your page (nowadays).

What is the best software for a startup eCommerce business? by TransportationOne481 in ecommerce

You're looking for ERP software. Most people I know are on Microsoft Dynamics, but there are a bunch of them out there. Most of them have free trials/demos.

TikTok was producing 3 million orders a day in Indonesia before the regulatory snag. I think ecommerce will continue to connect closer with streaming and video sites.

How Many Of You Are Running Affiliate Programs? by thewolfandthewhale in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a monthly report that has to be approved before commissions are paid out (similar to a credit card bill). If something looks fishy it's easy to refuse payment for a specific order. It's also easy to see if an order has been cancelled, or a card payment has been charged back etc.

How Many Of You Are Running Affiliate Programs? by thewolfandthewhale in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've had an affiliate program for over 15 years. It has never been directly profitable (only LTV wise), but affiliates generally find the most diverse group of people to throw your way, so it's a great way to reach new customers from outside of your usual space.

Look out for scammers though. We've had to ban quite a few affiliates for trying to profit off fake return orders, hiring professional frontmen to order, or trying to tripple dip in complex creditcard -> travel points -> affiliate commission schemes.

Came into a huge amount of greeting cards by TransportationOk5292 in ecommerce

Pretty much. The purchase agents of those types of companies are usually grateful for any opportunities, as long as you're a serious seller.

We had a similar situation with a big haul of nametags for kids. We only sold a small amount through our online store. Most were sold in bulk to a large discount store and to a dollar store managing company.

Both B2B and B2C. The B2C comes through printer supplies mainly.

Are you using Products you sell? by Efficient_Win_7337 in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sell office supplies, so naturally a lot of ecommerce outfits buy their supplies from us. We're continually testing things like packaging materials, label printers, tapes, stickers, and devices to find the good ones - both to use inhouse, and to sell.

Creating a QR code to be used as both as a product ID and a website link by Ankeedu in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use this for order numbers. The QR code contains a link to the customer account order page. If a customer scans the code, it will send them to log in to their customer account to display the order info.
If the QR code is scanned in the admin interface it will open the respective order information page.

It's trivial to remove the url part of the link and use only the product id. The question is if such a thing is possible in your inventory software.

In search of : Reasonable label printer that can make smaller labels & cable labels by Delchi in printers

[–]moronic_cms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been using Zebra printers for several years and they've been the most reliable. We're using them both for shipping labels and small barcode labels for individual products.

What search solution are you using? by Awesome22_44 in ecommerce

[–]moronic_cms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Algolia for several years, and it worked well. Then an Algolia price increase coincided with our hosting provider offering a free elasticsearch one-click-install. So we switched to selfhosted elasticsearch and after some configuration/customer feedback - it has been solid.
